   My son and I got a souvlaki and burger with chips. Souvlaki was huge, plenty of meat, sauces and salads. All fresh. Burger was ok. Chips were perfect and good portion size.

   It was nice they have fun things to look at while waiting. The garlic sauce is basically aoli. The meat comes in little cubes and the chips are very average and worse than most other local places. It's open late on Friday and Saturday night so perfect for a late night feast.

   So I ordered a meat on chips. $19 so should be packed with meat and flavours. All chips and a few...and I mean a FEW small bits of beef and chicken with some sort of curry flavour. A tiny sprinkling of packet style grated chees that wasn't melted at all despite the "Chefs" attempts with a blow torch. the box it came in was 95% chips and 5% whatever passes for meat and cheese. This place is not reccommended if you wnat to have a nourishing meal. If you want chips get them from next door. Will not be returning to this place...and I would advise avoiding it altogether if you want value for money.

   I have tried the food from Ilam bbqs, as take aways, through different food delivery methods because I enjoy the flavors. Today, I went in person and I won't be back. Being unfamiliar with how the cook fills the souvlakis, I approached the counter to say what sauces I wanted, just to be told that one of the standards was tomato sauce. I told him that I could not have tomato sauce and he said that that was standard and that he'd already squirted the salads (a fistful of a mix of lettuce and coleslaw). The cook was not happy, grabbed the salads and put them, and threw them into the rubbish bin. Only then he rinsed his hands and put some gloves on. It was an unpleasant experience, I don't think I'll keep on supporting this business through my family's patronage. After all, I choose take aways to enjoy my time doing other things rather than cooking and this afternoon the enjoyment has been halved.

   Absolutely love Ilam Barbeques. Have been a loyal customer for over 10 years and even under new ownership they haven't compromised on flavour!! We've tried other places but always come back because they have the best chicken souvlaki and meat on chips!! Super friendly service. We order regularly and food is always a hit!

   Ordered lamb- get sausage! I reckon if you’re selling sausage not actual meat you should tell your customers- either that or charge sausage prices- $30 for a plate of sausages is an absolute rip off. Following reply- DoorDash menu says lamb. No mention if sausage (kofta). Chicken or lamb or falafel.

   They are Ripping off people(especially Uni students) I order meat on chips($18)and he asked me sauce, I add two sauces and they charged me 2 dollar extra for sauce($20), the dish itself supposed to be comes with the sauce, they should not charge anything extra For NO meat on chips.

   Great meat on chips, defenitly some of the better meat on chips I’ve had in Christchurch. Reason for the 2 stars is they charge $1 per sauce on top. Who does this? It’s shops like this that start me down the slippery slope to communism. It’s a shame I won’t be going back as they serve great food.
