I’d give this place 6 stars if I could. The food was absolutely amazing especially the green curry. I’ve tried green curry at many restaurants, but nothing compares to the one here. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were generous, and the ambiance was warm and cozy, making it feel like you’re dining in a Thai household. The service was great as well. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

This Thai restaurant has been my go-to spot for years, and it never disappoints. Their $13 lunch special is one of the best deals around—generous portions, fast service, and consistently delicious food. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeaway, the quality is always reliable. My favourites are the Thai salad and boat noodles. The salad is fresh, crunchy, and packed with flavour, tossed in a zesty dressing that hits all the right notes—sweet, sour, and spicy. It’s light but satisfying, especially on a warm day. The boat noodle soup, on the other hand, is rich, hearty, and deeply savoury. The broth has so much depth, with tender meat and silky noodles making it incredibly comforting and filling. The restaurant itself has a casual and welcoming vibe. The staff are friendly and efficient, always happy to accommodate extra spice or tweaks to your meal. It’s the kind of place where they remember your usual order after a few visits. If you’re after affordable, tasty, and authentic Thai food, this is a spot well worth checking out. The lunch special alone is reason to return, but it’s the flavour and warmth that keep me coming back.

Absolutely one of the best tasty meals I have ever had (do love a chilli). The staff are humble and attentive but not in your face. 10/10

Such great food and equally great service. We had an awesome meal at Good Thai. I loved my Yum thai salad, the tastiest dish I've had in ages. Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Even took photos of the family for us on our phones so we could all be included. Thank you :) we will be back

Much better than “Good!” I’ve lost count how many times I have been to Thailand, so I am always really pleased when I find a realistic Thai restaurant in Christchurch… and this place is Great! I had the Thai Fish Cakes for entree, and larb Gai and basil chilli beef for main. Seriously good. All of it. :)

Wanted to try somewhere new, and read the wonderful reviews for this friendly Thai restaraunt. VERY pleased we tried it - the food is good, the service friendly and the prices easy on the pocket. A friendly welcome when we walked in, and smiling updates during the course of dinner was a wonderful reminder of just how good and friendly service can be. We had a Pork ribs entree, Spicy Duck Curry, Tom Yam soup (fish) and Pad Thai. The Ribs, eaten as the "chef's special" were a disappoint, they weren't terrible, but next time round we'd try something different (maybe the Thai Chicken wings). Spicy Duck curry - quite sweet and nicely spiced. My partner described it as "kiwi version of Thai food" - and I must say I agree. I enjoyed it - with the lovely sweetness of grapes of pineapple, but it did seem to have been adjusted for local palates. The Tom Yam was excellent! Really really enjoyed the spiciness. Pad Thai was the star of the evening and we'll be back to get this again, most likely as a takeaway (tabao). Authentic with all the tastes that go with it. What was also enjoyable for me was the chance to have an "Elephant Beer" (Chang) without which no Thai dinner is quite complete. I'm totally not being fair - but I would really really love to see a Thai Mango Sticky Rice on the dessert menu instead of Cheese Cake (one reason this isn't fair is that I didn't try the cheesecake) All in all - I know I haven't given five stars, but "Good Thai" really is GOOD Thai and I would recommend that you try for yourself!
