   Went here for drinks, when leaving realised bank cards and ID were not with us. Went to ask the security staff if we can go back in and check for it or if they could check and then next thing we know is the security staff have threatened a mate by raising their fist to them for simply asking to go look for the ID. Seems like they wanted a fight that night, very strange behaviour.

   After a group of us left the venue this evening, we later attempted to briefly re-enter to retrieve a friend’s wallet, which was still showing its location inside the venue. When we spoke with the door staff in the main alley, they were unhelpful and refused to assist, including declining to show or confirm ID badge details. Door staff identification is a public safety requirement, and refusing to provide this while acting in an aggressive manner — including raising a fist toward me — is unacceptable. I felt frustrated and concerned, as we were simply attempting to recover lost property and expected a reasonable level of support. I need to know that staff are acting fairly, respectfully, and with sound judgment in these situations. As this is not the first time I have experienced issues with door staff, and given that there is video and camera evidence from tonight, we are prepared to take this matter further if necessary. Alternatively, we are open to resolving this appropriately through an apology and assurance that such behaviour will not occur again. Please advise how you wish to proceed.

   We were moved here as the restaurant didn’t have tables. Gorgeous place polite staff - same menu. It was empty so the atmosphere was going to be important. When I plucked up the courage to ask if we were going to have to listen to country music all dinner- yes was the polite apologetic response…. So gorgeous polo bar theme, fancy cocktails and expensive food and music that was so off brand it killed the atmosphere.

   My friend and I visited this cocktail bar when we were in Christchurch a few weeks ago, and had a great time. We came here because I found this place online while we were planning and said I really wanted to go. It was hard to pick what to order because everything on the menu sounded fantastic. We're both fans of interesting signature drinks at cocktail bars, and this bar had heaps of them. I had the Merchant's Mark and my friend had the Shaitan's Favour and both drinks were fantastic. I'd recommend them both. Even though the place got a bit busy, the bartender was friendly and approachable without being invasive or intrusive. We sat right at the bar and really enjoyed watching the bartender at work, because it was clear he was extremely skilled at his job. We had a great chat with him about different spirits and liqueurs as well.

   Amazing service, was served by mayko really good cocktail recommendations , good music and good food overall was an amazing experience. Throwing peanut shells on the floor was good fun as well. Would 100% recommend going here.

   Beautiful vintage colonial decor, comfortable leather seating. Cocktail options are quite sweet for my tastes but they were still good and interesting. The peanuts and shells on the floor was hilarious and good fun. Apparently this used to help control dust in Indian bars.

   My wife and I found this place by chance. We entered via the 'black door' entry and we where completely blown away! We saw this door next to an overhead heat bar that had in intricate sign post with the initials BPC, i said to my wife 'pull on that door' and wow it opened into the best speak easy bar I've ever seen. The bartender welcomed us in and showed us the menu. He said if this to your liking i can make you any drink. As it had been a long day i opped for an espresso martini, he counted with an original or maybe one with a hint of orange, jaffe like. We took one of each and they not only tasted amazing but to see a master at work mixing these cocktails was magic. This was the best cocktail experience i have had in my life and to add after our martini's the bartender asked us for our favourite spirit and then made custom cocktails to suit. If you are in Christchurch you MUST find this place and have a drink! Ps.the shared bathrooms add to speak easy feeling you get from this amazing place. By far the best place i have been too on my NZ trip
