   I’m really disappointed with the experience we had at Pothichoru recently. This was the first time we decided to buy food from outside since moving to Christchurch, and we chose this place after hearing they offered proper Kerala flavours. It was meant to be a special birthday surprise for someone close to me, but the whole experience fell flat. From the moment I called, the service didn’t feel welcoming at all. The receptionist didn’t explain the menu properly, didn’t mention family-pack options, and instead just added extra boxes saying they’d give me a discount which never actually happened. Even though we reached a bit late, our order still wasn’t ready, and the way we were spoken to felt cold and unhelpful. When we opened the food, things got worse. The biryani and side dishes had completely different tastes from each other, one box was overloaded with masala and hardly any rice, and the chicken wasn’t properly cooked. By the next day the food had already gone bad. Something we bought separately for $16 came in a very small portion size, definitely not worth the price. To top it off, the prices online don’t match what they charge in the shop. We ended up paying around $130 for food that didn’t taste good, didn’t match the photos, and honestly felt like a waste of our hard-earned money. We were so disappointed that most of it went straight to the bin. Front-of-house staff are the first people customers interact with, so basic courtesy, clear communication, and proper product knowledge are essential. Unfortunately, none of that was there. This will be our first and last visit. Really hope they improve their service and food quality going forward.

   We had dinner at Pothichor last weekend, and it was wonderful. The staff were polite and welcoming, and the food was simply delicious. If you are missing Kerala food, this is the place to go — everything tasted fresh and truly traditional. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

   I have been here for 3 times: Experience 1 : ordered mysore masala dosa, got Bug in sambhar. Owner not ready to replace the dish just got me a new bowl of sambhar. However, they offered us cold dal pakoda at the end for the compensation. Experience 2: Ordered mysore masala, waited for 45 mins, still staff was serving everyone else but not even answering to us for the delay. We asked them to cancel the order as it was taking too long. They didn't cancel the order. At the end we left after 50 minutes. Experience 3: politely requested staff to get the table cleaned, got replied very rudely to keep calm. Staff hardly understand English and it is very hard to communicate even simple things like ordering food from their own menu.

   The coconut chutney doesn’t look like a choke coconut chutney or taste weird Taste just a coconut paste they give us a solid coconut paste and if I ask them to give me a liquid chutney they give me just a little bit more water and just a coconut paste Overall Dosa is good

   Great South Indian food. I love this place. Best Dosa ever i have had in my life. Especially if you are a dosa lover must come here. No other place can beat this place. Real authentic taste of south indian dosa. This business run by a south indian. They are so kind. Whenever i feel like doing a dosa i go there.

   The authentic South Indian restaurant in Christchurch. Been there several times and dishes are of good quality. Got a chance to try their special seafood meal for lunch today and it was so delicious.
