Steve is very friendly and a nice person. We had a great peaceful stay here. Comfy bed. Place has everything you need. Feels like home away from home. Would love to go back again. We loved the animals and the fire place. Thanks for providing an awesome place for a holiday.
With my sister, I stayed at Koramatua homestead, in March 2024, and it was disappointing. My sister recently posted a review outlining the problems: we had booked for two nights, but after the first night, we decided it was simply too grubby and the shower had not been working. This is our MAIN point: we paid for the first night, but given the overall state of the place and our problems with the shower, we decided not to stay the second night. The owner PROMISED to refund the second night's charge. However, even though Booking.com has asked him to refund the money to us, he will not do it. He has reneged on his promise to us to refund the money for the second night. My sister posted her review recently, because we have tried repeatedly over the months to get our refund. When we didn't, we decided to make our complaint public via a review. But the host has responded by calling us racist! That's ridiculous - the Asian staff members were great, and we never had a bad word to say against them. The problem is the owner who reneged on his promise to refund our money for the second night. Quite apart from that, we are both Asian too! Clearly, the owner's response was muddled - apart from everything else, he got the wrong month - and he clearly didn't remember us and he assumed we were white and only causing problems because the staff were Asian! The staff were not the problem - because the place was grubby and the shower not working, we decided to leave after the first night. The problem is that the owner PROMISED to refund our money, and then he refused to do so. That is our complaint.
Literally the WORST place we stayed in the whole of New Zealand. We could not open the door in the room (the only form of ventilation) because animals outside would wander in. Cobwebs everywhere which showed things were rarely cleaned. Filthy and dusty. The shower would not drain so I had to stand in filthy water (eww...). There were pipes lying outside in the garden in several places (no wonder there were drainage problems). Stagnant water (a health hazard which needs to be reported to Health authorities). Steve tried to fix the shower the next day but it was still not draining properly and by then we'd had enough. We asked him if he would refund the second night. He assured us he would confirm and honour the cancellation but when Booking.com contacted him he reneged. I saw another review here which said he did the same thing with them. He did not keep his word. Don't stay here - it's awful and not worth the money they charge. Booked under the name of Hanson. Stayed in Mid March 2024. Regarding your incorrect comments after I posted this review - first we were there in March, not April. Second, your other comments about us being racist about Asians - we are Asian ourselves! Nice try, but you completely made that up. The photos don't lie - the place was filthy, you can see drainpipes in two of the pics. We had to wait hours for the shower to be "fixed" and we still were not convinced it would work as it was still making gurgling sounds. I notice also, that you did not even address your promise to refund the money paid for the second night - instead to tried to paint us as "racists". I did indeed give you the correct name it was booked under in the review above - Hanson. And as I noted before, you have done this before - reneged on a promise to honour the cancellation.
A big thank you to Steve and Glady making the barn available to us for a last-minute booking when I phoned Steve. We had a family member in Waikato hospital. Koromatua Homestead was only 12 minutes easy drive to the hospital. It is pet friendly and allowed us to bring our dog to stay. Steve is a friendly host aways asking if we needed help and how our family member was in hospital? Staying in the barn allowed us to relax at night after a busy day visiting the hospital. The two heat pumps were very good at keeping the rooms warm during the cold nights.
This place is PARADISE! The hosts are seriously amazing and relaxed. Steve is a funny guy with a lot of great stories about things he has experienced and had me in fits of laughter!! I loved it so much I never wanted to leave! I'll definitely be coming back for all of my future holidays!!!!
Very unique and comfortable place! We stayed in the Thunder chalet and it was very cozy. Breakfast was delicious and Glady was a sweetheart. Also, the animals are adorable, especially the dogs!
We stayed in the Barn, which was great with two little ones being able to spread out. Hot Tub outside & playground & farm animals for little ones. They were kept entertained so everyone happy. Steve was a great host. Definitely be back
