On the plate at The General at the lakes, the idea is coffeeβandβcabinet and well judged. Outdoors works when the weather plays along. Grill work shows a clean sear and rested meats. Takeaway travels well and holds its crunch. Portions are generous yet well judged.
Our whole Family of 6 went to Bosco for Dinner and what an amazing experience we had. We tried few starters and then main meals. In between we went for a walk at the park right in front of Cafe. The Food, Ambiance and Service was amazing . We loved each and every bit of this. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for Good times
My wife and I just enjoyed one of the best dinners we have had at a restaurant for a long time. The Indian food was superb and the live music (Friday night) was superb. It really was a shame to finish up and go home. No rush to push us out the door, we were able to enjoy the meal as a night out to enjoy. We will be back.
I recently visited The General at The Lakes restaurant and I was blown away by how amazing it was. The food was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure that I had everything I needed. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making me feel right at home. They have a great selection of dishes and drinks, so there's something for everyone. I can't wait to go back and enjoy another meal at this fantastic restaurant!
Both the lamb and steak were faultless,cooked to perfection exactly as requested. The sauce that comes with the lamb is truly exceptional and the beef jus we could have drunk in a mug. The meals are large and vegetables are included. A real highlight is the staff. They're young, international, friendly and efficient. When you combine that with a nothing is too much trouble attitude you know there is a good team. Well done and thank you for our 3rd perfect visit
Just as good as The Mount branch! The General never disappoints on food, coffee, service and facilities. The food is super fresh & consistently good. Amazing place to take kids with a great kids menu & activity packs. Staff are fantastic. Eat & drink here!!
We decided to give Maude another chance after a very poor previous experience just after new owners took over. What a pity we did as today's experience was nearly as bad as the last. The waiter had to be told 3 times what our drinks order was and then it took 3 times of backwards and forwards before the 3 drinks were delivered! When we complained one waiter said "Well I didn't take the order". The menu is sparse and quite pricey. My southern fried chicken burger cost $27 and was OK but certainly not outstanding. We only gave Maude another chance because the Lakes Facebook page said they had lifted their game - well our experience proved this wrong. The menu needs totally revamping and there needs to be some serious staff training undertaken by someone who knows what they are doing. We won't be back.
It seems although they have had many bad reviews for awhile now they are not interested in changing their ways... I visited Maude on a Saturday morning. First arriving when it wasn't too busy. I was quickly served and seated at a table and drink order taken, iced latte and this was brought to my table in a timely manner and was very nice. I then had some clients I was meeting arrive (meanwhile Maude was getting busier as it neared lunch time) and they also ordered 2x coffee's which still arrived in a timely manner. After our meeting, my partner and son joined me for lunch. The Cafe was busy but not overly. Our waitress was lovely. Loved her service and approachability. Unfortunately that's the only good thing about my experience once my clients left. The food we ordered took so long to arrive with no warning of the wait time, the table next to us was served raw eggs and after waiting a fair while for my eggs benedict (pricey) they forgot bacon and it was very, very plain. No seasoning at all in the rosti's either. My partners eggs on toast was disappointing and pricey for what he got. And my son's pancakes were very dry, thank god they serve some whipped cream with it or this would of been inedible. Also the older man working in the cafe, possibly the owner?? Has terrible customer service etiquette. Will interrupt you at your table while talking, sometimes doesn't say anything at all when dropping off food at tables and forgot a customers scone order which they had to chase up. Over all, seems they need more staff during those busier times and another chef to support the main chef. Unfortunately will only be returning if any future clients want a meeting in that area as I did enjoy the first coffee and the environment of the Cafe is nice. Lovely outdoor area. 2/5 - 2 stars for the nice 1st coffee and friendly waitress we had but that's about it
