Pomeroy's Old Brewery (let's just call it Pomeroy's...) is on the edge of the central city, on Kilmore Street. Perhaps not what you'd immediately think of as a city restaurant. Family friendly. Clean restaurant, pleasant staff, good service. The menu is "straightforward", more-or-less described as an "and chips" menu. You know, fish and chips, etc. All very good however, and the food is well prepared and tasty. There is a good drinks menu. Overall, recommended, especially if you have kids.

What a great place to catch up with old friends. Couldn't fault the whole experience. We had a table tucked away from the bar hum and the great waitress even turned the music down so we could chat. Well balanced menu, huge craft beer selection in a wonderful decor. The food was delicious and very generous, given the reasonable prices. What's not to love? We'll be back.

On the record, our favourite pub in the ENTIRE country!! We live in WhakatΕ« Nelson but will make the trip out to get our Pomeroyβs fix. The staff are always so lovely and welcoming, truly the heart of a perfect pub. The joy that comes from warm lighting, classic brick walls, and the gorgeous doggies that sit at the feet of their owners just enjoying a night at the pub - truly couldnβt ask for anything better. The menu is and always has been the best! Perfectly cooked steaks and the most delicious cauliflower burgers! Have talked a lot about moving so we can spend more time here :β) WE LOVE YOU FOREVER POMEROYβS!!!

If you're into craft beer, make sure to stop in at Pomeroys. Staff are always helpful and friendly, happy to let you try samples before choosing. Heaps of choices of taps with a range of styles of beers. And the chips are so good. Nice atmosphere. Lucky to call this one my local!

My Spicy Friend Chicken was amazing and my wife and mother in law loved their venison and seafood chowder. The Beer that is brewed by them was great too! But I have to say the vibe is amazing, it is a proper British style pub, it looks beautiful with its architecture and interior. And the best thing for me is that it has no TVs, coming from Sydney I know a TV ruins the vibe of the place and not having TVs in the pub makes it more friendly and cozy! I'm definitely returning when I come back to Christchurch!

Great food, ambience, and service here. Prices high, but that's normal for pub restaurants these days. Great range of NZ craft beer.

Came here for the pork roast on Sundays - was not disappointed. The food at Poms has always been spot on each time I've come, this last time in particular it was exceptional. They have a huge variety of crafts, I particularly like sours and these have all been top tier. The bar snacks are great, if you like pork crackling then I highly recommend grabbing a plate to share over a beer. Bar Staff are always friendly and professional, and was glad to have that carried over into the dining room. Claiming it as my local even though it's 15 mins away from home

Took the family for a weekday evening meal to Pomeroys as we wanted a nice but not swanky meal out in a relaxed environment with good local food. We weren't disappointed! The food and service were excellent, portions huge and high quality. In particular we enjoyed the steak and the reasonable wine prices. Attentive service made for the icing on the cake. A great end to our NZ experience as a touring UK family!
