As someone who is non-MΔori, I was hesitant to step foot into this small store due to greenstone being very symbolic and sacred to MΔori. However, as I stepped foot into the store it was fine and quite relaxing. The prices of the greenstone is quite reasonable and I did end up buying something. The staff are approachable and are happy to answer your queries
If you're looking for a reasonable priced pounamu, this may be worth stopping in to check out. Very friendly and helpful service, be aware their are no toilets available. A little historical area that can be viewed.
Omg. I adore this place. I went there 18 months ago when my brother purchased taongas for us both. Went back this trip to purchase taonga for my whanau. The gorgeous staff still remembered my brother and I. Staff go out of their way to be helpful I have visited many greenstone shops around the north island. This is the best. I feel comfortable while I am inside

Everytime i come back to New Zealand i always come back to Te kauwhata greenstone store. All my toanga have been purshased here and friends childrens gift for there 21st ....this place holds great memories for me ...with my mother. Great place full of history. Lovely
This was a great find on the way to Auckland. Interesting little museum with lots of greenstone available to purchase. We grabbed some last-minute gifts for family and friends before heading back to Australia. Gifts are VERY reasonably priced, and the ladies were very informative on the meanings of the pieces we purchased. We grabbed some keyrings, cufflinks, and some bronze Kiwis. If heading between Hamilton and Auckland, do yourself a favour and have a look. Will only take a small amount of time, but it is well worth the stop.
Love this place reasonably priced & great customer service highly recommend for purchase of their taonga. You can even watch from inside the shop through glass windows the men making these beautiful taonga.
Beautiful pounamu and taonga at affordable prices. The staff were really helpful. I spent a while looking at some pounamu for my children, so many to choose from. I will definitely be back any time I want to buy pounamu for friends or whanau. Worth a look - I'd even drive down from Auckland for these prices.
