The zoo was a great experience, I loved the touch of farm animals too! I didn't expect for it to be as big as it was. I also like the fact that the zoo announces what animals the zoo keepers are feeding. I have never had that experience at a zoo before, so thank you!
Had a fabulous family day out and were lucky enough to enjoy two of the animal encounters the zoo offers. Both our encounters and general viewing experiences were top notch. We got to see a variety of the animals being fed, playing, and living positive and enriched lives.
Hamilton Zoo is a fantastic place for families and animal lovers. The enclosures are spacious and thoughtfully designed, giving the animals room to move and making the experience feel natural. The highlights include the big cats, giraffes, rhinos, and the incredible aviary walk-through. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about conservation. Keeper talks are engaging and give you a deeper understanding of the animals and the zoo’s work. The grounds are well-kept, easy to walk, and there are plenty of shaded areas and picnic spots to relax. It’s not overcrowded like some larger zoos, which makes the visit more enjoyable and peaceful. A great balance of education, conservation, and family fun—definitely worth a visit if you’re in Hamilton.
The upgrades to this facility are fantastic. It's clean, the animals are well cared for and happy, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The map is well laid out with plenty of play areas sprinkled throughout, as well as restrooms and snack opportunities. Disability access is decent, but there are some steep areas. The cafe is good, with a smaller outlet next to the playground. There is a decent selection of gluten and dairy free snacks, as well as alternative milks for surprisingly good coffee.
I went on a school trip with my grandson. It has been about 10 years since I've last been, and there have been some awesome renovations done. The entrance has a new cafe which is very modern and they make a great mocca. The carpark is a lot bigger but is very tight to maneuver around. The playground at the entrance has been renovated, and there are much more covered picnic tables to eat at and also more toilets. The toilet facilities around the zoo have also been updated and expanded. As a whole, the new renovations make the zoo a more family-friendly place to visit.
Amazing chimpanzee enclosure. I wish I could have spent more time here. This is a good quality zoo. Some closures which is normal. I’ll return in the summer to check it out again ☺️
Fantastic, likely the best zoo experience I have had. Such beautiful scenery, lots of animals and clean amenities. I got a burger and fresh pineapple juice from the cafe afterwards - amazing food, and the juice was actually fresh from a juicer! Highly recommended place to visit with the family.
Fabulous afternoon spent with the children wandering around looking at all the wonderful animals. Love all the tables and chairs dotted all around the zoo as well as multiple activity areas to keep the little ones entertained. End the day at the cafe with a ice-cream, cold drink or a delicious coffee while the children have one last burst of energy in the play ground.
