Food is consistently good ! My go to family gatherings for a dinner. The lemon chicken, eggplant and duck are my favorite dishes. Music can sometimes be loud on a quiet day. They donβt give bowls, only plates so you have to ask for it.

Food was great, good value for money. We loved the beef brisket soup. Hubby and I went there to celebrate our anniversary and we enjoyed every bit of it. The staff was friendly, accommodated for my allergies. The place could use some soft music to match the aesthetic, either than that all was lovely.

My wife and two of my daughters and I had lunch here. It is a lovely restaurant, nice, friendly staff and the food is of a high quality, extremely well presented, and delicious. Wife + Daughters loved the place and declared it a new favourite. I also enjoyed the food as well but not as immensely as they. The reason is because while the food is very high quality and delicious, I personally found it a little (just a tiny bit) watered down to cater for western tastes. I am not saying it is not authentic, just not quite as layered in its flavouring as you find in some other Chinese restaurants. If you look at the photos you will see that the food is high quality, but you can also probably also tell it is lightly flavoured. The only chilli sauce offered is a sweet chilli sauce that looks just like what you get from a bottle at home. I asked for some chilli oil and got some, but it was fairly bland. Edit: I have since done my research on Shanghai style cooking which apparently has an emphasis on sweetness, lightness, and freshness. So my comments on 'watered down' may be awry, it may simply be that I prefer a more robust regional style of Chinese cooking and this restaurant is offering a genuinely Shanghai style. This style may be influenced by the 100+ years Shanghai was a western entrepot to China.

An excellent chinese restaurant in Hamilton. We took the Pejing Duck and it was excellent. They serve good quantities, you won't be hungry when you'll leave. For 2 ppl, I'd recommend to take 1/2 beijing duck and something else with it, juste to enjoy different courses :) we took the dumplings and they were also really good. Price is more than correct imi

I thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience at Shanghai couple days ago. The decor is nice - tidy and clean. Staff were really polite and helpful. We ordered a couple of small dishes and two main dishes. The roasted duck was juicy and tasty. The vermicelli wongbak in crushed garlic paste was also tasty but slightly salty for us. It would go well with rice. The steamed blue cod was perfect. I am looking forward to try some other dishes next time.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Shanghai Chinese Restaurant located at SkyCity Hamilton, and I must say it was a truly delightful experience. This restaurant offers authentic Shanghai cuisine in a clean and elegant environment with gorgeous decorations that transport you to the heart of Shanghai. The moment I entered the restaurant, I was immediately captivated by the tasteful and sophisticated decor. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the restaurant, from the beautiful Chinese lanterns adorning the ceiling to the intricate artwork on the walls. The ambiance created a sense of tranquility, making it the perfect place for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. The customer service at Shanghai Chinese Restaurant was simply outstanding. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and well-versed in the menu. They guided me through the extensive selection of dishes and provided excellent recommendations based on my preferences. Their professionalism and genuine warmth added an extra layer of satisfaction to the overall dining experience. Now, let's talk about the highlight of the evening: the food. Every dish that arrived at my table was a true masterpiece, both in terms of presentation and taste. The chefs at Shanghai Chinese Restaurant have clearly mastered the art of traditional Shanghai cuisine. Each dish was prepared with precision and care, resulting in an explosion of flavors that left me craving for more. While every dish I tried was exceptional, two standout dishes deserve special mention. The Beijing roast duck was cooked to perfection, with a crispy skin and succulent meat that melted in my mouth. It was served with delicate pancakes and a selection of condiments, allowing me to create my own delightful duck wraps. The combination of textures and flavors was simply divine. Another dish that left a lasting impression on me was the Buddha jumping wall soup. This rich and aromatic soup is a true delicacy, made with a combination of premium ingredients such as abalone, sea cucumber, fish maw, and other seafood delicacies. The flavors were complex yet harmonious, and the broth was velvety and comforting. It was a true indulgence for my taste buds. Seafood lovers will be pleased to know that Shanghai Chinese Restaurant offers a variety of live fish and seafood options. Whether you prefer steamed fish, seafood hotpot, or wok-fried delicacies, you'll find an extensive selection to satisfy your cravings. The freshness and quality of the seafood were evident in every bite, further enhancing the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Shanghai Chinese Restaurant at SkyCity Hamilton is a hidden gem for lovers of authentic Shanghai cuisine. From the moment you step through the door, you are transported to a world of elegance and sophistication. The combination of the exquisite decor, exceptional customer service, and mouthwatering dishes creates an unforgettable dining experience.
