What a beautiful wee cafe hidden in the middle of the mall. The date and walnut scone was absolutely the best scone I've ever had. All the food is made on site. The new ice cream is absolutely delicious too
My husband and I had 2 chicken burgers. First they didn't have buns so had to buy from pak 'n save. In my husbands burger he had 2 slivers of dry chicken. My chicken had a bone in it. When I showed the manager, they blamed the supplier and offered me 50% back on my burger or a slice from their cabinet. I refused both. Shocking. Won't be going back.
Arrived to a quiet cafe around 11am and the two servers behind the counter were chatting and washing dishes while my daughter waited patiently to be served. Eventually my daughter placed an order for a takeaway strawberry milkshake, and I placed an order for scones, not to be heated to takeaway. The lady who took my daughters order whilst chatting away to her team member made up the shake and then left it on the machine stirring, and cleared of out the back. The male server quickly got my scone order together which then just meant my daughter was just waiting for her drink. We stood waiting a few more moments and the women didn’t come back. The male server eventually spotted the milkshake and finished making it and handed it my daughter along with a dirty straw. We weren’t impressed with the service since the staff have done this to us once before when we ordered two flat whites. They took ages to come out ( on a quiet day ) and when they did they were cold. On this day there was one girl working on the coffee machine and two other servers who were out the back chatting casually. The fact that the servers were more interested in talking with each other or cleaning instead of serving the customers really shows how much they care for paying customers. Such a shame, if only the service was better then they would have a lot more customers. If the staff spent less time chatting and more time doing there job in relation to customer service then this establishment would actually really popular and far more profitable.
One of the tastiest breakfasts I've had in Chch, the hash cake was very good. It was good that they serve it with relish a lot of places never provide a sauce option. The only downside is the service was less than desirable, I found the staff to be vacant and rude and the servers to be unfriendly which I wasn't happy about. Very lucky the chef is keeping this review 5/5 instead of 3-4/5.
Beautiful food, great vibes but be prepared to bus your own table to get one. However there is notice that they are short staffed. For the great food and coffee its almost worth it.
Twice within one week, I have been there and the customer service is atrocious. Food is average. First time I went went to have breakfast with my husband. Asked for a bottle of water and the Asian lady points to the tap water instead. Her voice is so abrupt to the point of being rude. Second time, I had to meet my Mum and sister. I didn't order anything but told them I'd wait outside. All my Mum could hear was yelling and banging coming from the staff. A waiter wanted to pass me. No manners but asked "Can you move". I looked at her and then at myself. There was plenty of room. If you have access to CCTV, you'll be able to see there was more than enough room BUT her manners does need improvement. Please goes a long way.
I got two takeaway cold drinks, one of the staff members was sitting at a table on her phone and the other served me. She was so incredibly rude, the only thing she said to me was to tell me the total cost, did not say hello or anything, just stared at me until I ordered. The drinks weren’t bad but weren’t amazing. Unfortunately the service completely ruined it for me
