   We celebrated an anniversary here and trusted the chef. Couldn’t have asked for a better evening. From the moment we walked in, the attention to detail throughout the service was fantastic. The food was incredible. A well put together seasonal menu. We both left full and completely satisfied. Perfect intimate setting in an upstairs area. 5 stars well deserved. Can’t thank the team enough for making our evening special. We will not be forgetting our meal anytime soon!

   We’re spoilt for choice in Christchurch Ōtautahi when it comes to where to eat! We wanted to celebrate a milestone and selected Story via First Tables. A great deal with a four course Trust the Chef at $89 for two. Plus a vino of two. Scott our waiter was friendly and helpful explaining the menu as each course arrived. The focaccia bread and chilli butter was delightful soft, moist and just darn yummy. The next course was asparagus and courgette. Once again darn yummy lovely flavours. Then the short rib on celeriac pure with crunchy potatoes. Tender moist meat great flavours - darn yummy. The finale a chocolate mousse with mango sorbet and a sliver of meringue coconut crunch. My husband enjoyed this but I found it a little buttery and not quite sweet enough. Overall a really enjoyable night and meal. Excellent value!

   Made a reservation for the early dinner offer as I had the set meal the previous time. It was pretty filling for a solo diner like myself. The food's bit fusion with local ingredients but with Western and Asian influences. The Early Dinner offer is basically about 4 dishes picked by the chef including one main course. I got a Kingfish Moilee, a curry dish which was good, I like the addition of the crunchy radish that helps balance the rich curry. The vegetables especially the cauliflower is the most memorable.

   Their menu change everyday. They provide a 3 course menu; with options of meat or vege for entree and main. We tried both vege and meat dishes. They are Okay, on the day we go, all dishes are a little sour. I think I will go back again when we go to Christchurch again.

   We loved Story. The chef's choice menu takes away the need to choose, which was no problem because everything sounded delicious and included a great vegetatian option. It also was delicious! We were tea-total for the night so didn't sample the wines but the zero beers were lovely. Will definitely return, and definitely recommend

   Story is a most excellent restaurant. They have a 3-course set menu they change every week. This week we started with an excellent salmon and juniper dish. This is a classic west-coast USA salmon combination executed perfectly, and the chardonnay pairing was just wonderful! The second course was a duck a l'orange to die for. I have always loved this dish, and made it several times myself - they executed it perfectly. But for me, the best dish was the dessert. It was a magnificent combination of lemon curds, tiny dollops of cream, pear puree, two types of biscuits, and two types of meringue. Each part of the dessert was delicious, but put together it was truly sublime. It was so good that while I sipped the dessert wine - which as excellent - I quickly decided to have sips of water to separate the wine and the dessert as there is no wine that could possibly match the quality of the gestalt experience of eating that dessert. My wife and I will be back, and I recommend anyone go visit - repeatedly!

   Great little place that does a seasonal menu that changes daily. They were very accommodating last minute and the waiter was great. We had amazing meal - flavour that slapped the tastebuds. Would come back!
