I came with a large group of 30 which the restaurant found difficult to manage in terms of drinks orders and ordering our mains. The servers split the table in half & for some reason 3 of us were the last to be served long after the first 2 groups had received & eaten their mains! You do need to purchase rice in addition to your meal so make sure you take that into account. Lovely flavours but beware of spice levels if you aren’t able to cope with heat.

I'd never been to spice paragon before but heard good things! It took a few moments for someone to notice us at reception however as soon as we were seated we were well looked after. My partner and I shared the squid, pad Thai, and the cheesecake for desert and loved all three courses. Will definitely be back, with friends!

Hands down the best food I have had in all of New Zealand. I went to Spice Paragon with zero expectations as most Thai food in Christchurch is quite average. The prices were a bit much for me at first glance, as I often run on tight budget. Most of the time I will argue that expensive food is not worth it past a certain price point, but that argument failed here. The food arrived within 10 min of ordering and was absolutely stunning visually. We ordered the Pad Thai and a beef dish with a red curry sauce (I can't remember the name) that the waitress recommended. The Pad Thai was delicious, but the beef dish stole the show. The meat was tender, full of flavor, and the sauce it was bathed in was delectable. Portion sizes were large. The waitstaff was exceptionally friendly and attentive for New Zealand standards. The evening atmosphere would make this restaurant a great spot for a date, or a nice dinner with friends and family. If you are looking for a nice dinner spot with bold flavors in Christchurch, this is the place!

I just went Spicy Paragon for my birthday yesterday. The location is easy to find, but parking isn't easy in town, Wilson carpark close by $4.00 only from 6.00pm to 10am the next day. A few paid off street parking available on Victoria St. The environment is bit dark inside, may need to request a better lighting spot if you are filming your dinning experience. It's big enough for function and event. I ordered many dishes today, two kids and myself. 3 of us, we had yummy pad thai, wok fried beans, cashew net chicken, sweet and sour coconut beef rib and house-made coconut ice cream. I loved every single dishes. Service is really nice, I reckon this type of Thai food is a high class experience, it felt so different from Thai street food. I complete my order at 6.20pm, dishes were all on my table at 6.30. WOW that was the word I said. I loved the freshness of each dish, look at the mushroom, it's still white and fresh. I didn't take any photos of the coconut ice cream, it was too late, we dived into the delicious flavour. Price isn't cheap, Entertainment Book give you 25% off of total bill, up to $40. $33 for beef rib curry, and $26 for pad thai, if I'm right. However, I'm rating 3 stars only, because I felt the waitress said "Wow, you guys eat a lots" total bill was $132 before discount. I'm not a big fan of this statement actually. You may say "you must like Thai food" or something else. Do need re-think what you are going to say!
