   We ordered takeaway tonight and asked for an Indian hot spice curry, not mild. Unfortunately, the curry tasted only sweet and tangy from the tomato with no spice at all. It didn’t taste like a proper Indian hot curry, and we were quite disappointed. We ended up eating something else instead. Not happy with our order tonight.

   We went for dinner. The food was excellent, the staff very friendly, and the price-quality ratio was more than fair. We ate chicken tikka as an entrée, the main dishes were lamb rogan josh and chicken kadai, and the chosen breads were keema naan and onion kulcha. Everything was so delicious! We will be back for more. Thanks, guys!

   Ordered from Indian Lotus after finding other options in Kaiapoi were closed. Ordered at 1720 via phone and was told pickup would be in 30 minutes time. Arrive at the restaurant at 1745 and waited a further 25 minutes. I get the impression they forgot to cook my order. Only two customers in the restaurant and one customer came in to collect takeaways while I was waiting. Chilli chicken was flavourless and the butter chicken was flavourful but extremely sweet. Garlic Naan was thin and hard. Could've been an off night but in my opinion, based on my experience, there are better options in Kaiapoi.

   DO NOT ORDER ONLINE - CALL FOR TAKEAWAYS! Trying to support a local business, our family has ordered twice from Indian Lotus, the first time was a couple of years ago when we ordered via the website but did not receive a confirmation via email and were told when I called to check that the order had not come through. No worries, I figured it happens and technology has its moments. We placed the order again via phone, waited for another 20-25 mins to collect and the food was fine. Last night I thought I’d try again via the website, placing an order at 6:05pm and receiving confirmation of payment but no ETA for pick up. At 6:35pm we went to collect the order thinking that should be plenty of time, but once again were told that despite the email confirmation and despite the money being taken from my account, no order had been received. Again, we placed the order and waited for around 20 mins for the food, which was fine, but unremarkable (we had butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and naan). I’m not sure why this restaurant still has the option to order online when it clearly doesn’t work. Going by the response I got from staff this is a regular occurrence, which might be acceptable if the food was amazing, but doesn’t seem worth putting up with for a meal similar to what you’d get in a mall food court. We will be going elsewhere in the future.
