   Had a lovely dinner at The Montreal. The decor and atmosphere were tidy and cosy, and our food was all perfect. We ordered 3 small plates, a large plate, and a flatbread, between two people. It was probably a bit much, but all the flavours were fabulous and I’m glad we didn’t leave anything out. Our waitress Isla was cheery, kind and helpful, and made us feel us feel very welcome. Top notch service, and top notch food!

   We had dinner on two nights and breakfast on two days. Everything we ate was exceptional and of the highest quality. The service was really good and the atmosphere was cosy and comfortable. All in all 5 stars. Here is everything we ate and enjoyed: 1. Market fresh oysters (bluff oysters) 2. Umami wagyu beef sliders 3. Fried chicken 4. Middle eastern lumina lamb stone baked flatbread 5. Pork stone baked flatbread For breakfast, we had the 1. French toast - this is a must must try 2. Hummus and bean quesadillas with poached eggs 3. Avocado croissant with poached eggs4” 4. Poached eggs with hollandaise sauce on a crispy potato pave - this was very heavy and can be avoided if you don’t want to take a nap! 5. Fresh scones Please note, the dinner menu is not available post 9pm (please confirm with the restaurant), so you will have to make do with the bar menu, which is what we did. They also had a good collection of wine.

   INCREDIBLE! We're visiting Christchurch and I wish we'd discovered this restaurant earlier in our trip to have visited a couple more times. The space is welcoming with a beautiful patio heated by wood burning fireplace and electric heaters. The staff is friendly and attentive. But the FOOD, y'all! Each thing we tried was creative, beautiful, and incredibly delicious. Tonight's fish was grouper and it was served 2 ways: fried and grilled - both absolutely stunning. The tomato and peach burratta caprese would have been delicious as is but was topped with basil ice cream instead of fresh basil and it was one of the most unexpectedly scrumptious things I've ever had. What a culinary gem!!!

   Nice atmosphere but for a nice hotel they tried to serve me a BURNT salmon flatbread! I told the staff that it’s clearly burnt. She said “it’s supposed to be made like that.” Wow really? If this is a 5 star hotel I’d expect better food quality than burnt flatbread. Strange service - didn’t feel like they were too welcoming no smile from the girl at register when we walked in either. We were traveling and wanted to try something along our route that had great reviews so we came here and this place was a disappointment.

   We like to call Hotel Montreal our "local" as we live nearby. The food is "always" of incredibly high standard & the service is some of the best you will experience anywhere in our city. We arrived for Mother's Day lunch today to be greeted by the young lady behind the desk.... She saw us arriving & immediately got up & opened the door with such a very warm welcome & she went out of her way to make our elderly friend comfortable. The food was delicious & the staff made my friend & my Mother's Day perfect! Thank you Hotel Montreal.

   New owners last year. A wonderful lunch ! Imaginative, well cooked, and a great mix of flavours. And a very interesting wine list. A great place for a leisurly meal. Freindly, unobtrusive service, and great fit-out.

   Had a really lovely dinner at Polo. The male staff was running a solo show, but he did absolutely a great job! He's been friendly and helpful the whole time! Plus, the yummy food we enjoyed from the plates. Definitely will be back again!

   Wonderful food and service. Right next to the bar and noise travelled. Making it a bit kiud in resteraunt. Clean toilets and modern facilities. Love the polo theme and horse photos. Beautiful gas fire for ambience.
