Thought we’d try this place to see what it was about.…very, very bad idea! The food was not just floating in an inch of grease, but the flavours were terrible, really unpleasant! All food binned and fish and chips ordered. This is not dissatisfaction about a little too much salt in a dish or not enough meat, it was lock, stock and barrel, horrible food. First and last visit.

Owner was very nice and the food was a good temperature, venue looked very clean and tidy. However the food was a bit disappointing unfortunately, I had a mild butter chicken with garlic naan ($20 all up). I initially thought the half filled rice container wouldn't be enough for the curry, but then found the chicken portion to be quite lacking with only enough pieces for one person at most. My picture illustrates the full chicken portion on the top, it's not a large bowl. The sauce was very watery and one spice was coming through very strongly and not many others. I suspect it may be tumeric as the sauce stained all my fingers and mouth orange, which is not something I normally have happen with other butter chickens I've had before.

I moved back into Highland Park last weekend, right across the road from this place. I have actually been coming here since around 1999, but last night was my first time back since it got new owners around a year ago. The place is still warm and inviting, but they have updated the dΓ©cor so it’s more stylish. The lady serving us was lovely, and really friendly. She remembered my mum, even though it’s probably been a while since my mum had eaten there. The food was delicious! There were three of us (my parents and me). We started with the Mixed Platter, which is usually for two, but they accommodated our request to have a mixed platter for three. The platter comes with samosa, pakora, lamb kebab, and choosa tikka. Everything on the platter was tasty, and it was reminiscent of the mixed platter the old owners used to make, but the condiments have been reduced to two from four. I think that’s good, otherwise there are an overwhelming number of combinations to try. We all had a really nice taste left in our mouths once we had finished our entrΓ©e. Usually, I would have Mango Chicken or Jhinga Malabari, but I decided to be a bit different. I usually save this for Holi, but I had the Palak Paneer for my main, which is cubes of Indian cheese in a spinach puree. It was super tasty, and they were generous with the paneer. Both of my parents shared a Jhinga Malabari, which they really enjoyed. Each of the mains came with a small bowl of rice. I think it’s probably the same amount that the old owners used to provide, just split up depending on the number of mains ordered. We also had a plain naan each. All of us were completely full and satisfied after our meal. Similar to with the last owners, whenever we go here, we are the only ones dining in. I don’t understand why, because the food is great, the staff are friendly, and it’s a comfortable atmosphere. The price is reasonable too. I know they do take away and Uber Eats, but have a go at dining in here to get the full experience. You won’t regret it!

Best Indian I’ve had! Feels more homemade than takeaway. Very friendly owners too. Highly recommend

Very accommodating to our kids who do not like spicy food. They even prioritised our butter chicken over another table's order as the kids were super hungry and couldn't wait. Prices are very reasonable and the lamb madras was the best I've ever had.

Lovely staff, delicious food. We usually go for the biryani and butter chicken, and it never disappoint, it is such a treat! Highly recommend if you're after tasty and spicy (optional) indian cuisine.
