Suprisingly not as much people as I'd expected. Nice beach with friends :)

lovely empty beach. There are almost no people here with lots of clamshells and seagulls walking around the beach. The view of Rangitoto is also lovely.

Beautiful beach with hardly any crowds. There is changing rooms, toilets and bathing space at the beach. There are also drinking water fountains. Visited the Cheltenham beach during the low tide, so had to walk quite a bit to reach the waters. Kids and myself had a great time at the beach. You can spot starfishes and other marine life's during the low tide. Beach is quite walkable from the Davenport Ferry terminal 2 ..

Cheltenham Beach in Devonport is another great spot for kite surfing and laid-back beach vibes. I visited in the fall, and it was super quietβ€”no crowds, just peaceful coastal energy. The water was surprisingly okay for the season, not too cold, and the steady wind made it clear why this is a favorite for kite surfing. Wide open views, soft sand, and a chill atmosphere make it a solid choice whether you’re into water sports or just want to unwind by the sea.

Just lovely. Easily accessible from Auckland via the downtown to Devonport ferry with a walk over an old volcano! Great views, clear water. As much a locals spot as fir tourists. Great ice cream shop nearby. Had a fantastic last swim in New Zealand.

Cheltenham Beach is our local beach and it's beautiful. Many people walk their dogs here and there are off-leash times available. There are often kite surfers here and at low tide you can walk all the way around to Takapuna if you time the tides right and make sure you keep an eye on the times. Great for picnics, sun bathing, shell collecting and swimming especially. When the tide is out it is waaaay out, so you have to walk out a fair bit of you're keen to swim but it's doable. Beautiful Spanish style home right near the beach. Great spot to bring the family, with a park including swings, slides and see saw for the kids. There are a few entrances/roadways and some parking available but best to park on the main road. Drop off your stuff first. All in all a fabulous beach, popular in summer and beautiful views out to Rangitoto Island of course! Enjoy your visit to Cheltenham beach!

One of the most accessible spots for kitesurfing beginners. Very shallow. But mind the tide because it does not work in high tide

Amazing atmosphere! Busy with people and dogs and lovely weather to spend a picnic day with family and friends! Must visit!

At low tide you can go at least a couple hundred meters into the sea and the water would only reach mid calf. We went on a weekday arvo and it was pretty quiet. Public toilets and changing rooms available at Balmain Reserve (near mid way of the stretch of the beach). Outdoor shower at Matai Road beach entrance.
