   Writing this after a few weeks of reflection. My appointment at Stanmore Bay Medical last month was one of the worst Doctors visits I’ve ever had. Dr. Dorothy Dowd was one of the most dismissive, rude and uninterested doctors I’ve ever dealt with. She acted as if I was an inconvenience from the moment I walked in. She wouldn’t properly look at anything I tried to show her, basically said “tough luck, that’s just what some people have to deal with” when I was discussing issues I’ve been having. Outright rude and needs to either retire or have her license revoked because she clearly doesn’t care about the people who are coming in. I walked out feeling completely ignored and disrespected. The whole appointment felt pointless, and honestly, I regret not standing up and leaving halfway through. For what I paid, I received absolutely nothing of value. I won’t be going back, don’t waste your time or money at this place. I want my money back.

   I’ve been with the centre since it opened and it’s been an interesting ride. The reception team have always been a pleasure to deal with. The doctors have been a different story. My biggest and most notable concern is the speed with which the staff turnover. This speaks volumes. Even within the last 12 months I spent time with two different doctors who were both great. Their manner, the care, the referral process and their genuine sense of patient care were great. And then suddenly they’re gone. Again. And a new tranche arrive. I’ve decided to bite the bullet and follow Dr Reza to Orewa. After one experience there, what I’ve gained in a great doc, I’ve lost in a really good admin team who were able to actually listen on the phone. I hope you manage to keep the good people for a bit longer Susan, and I truly wish you the best of luck.

   Suzan Alawi is a highly unprofessional, uncaring, negligent, and RUDE doctor. She has absolutely ZERO communication or people skills and will talk over you during the consult. She is the worst doctor I have ever encountered and, quite frankly, should have her licence revoked as she does not understand the simplest medical forms or ailments. The issues I have experienced with this practice could fill a book. I relate to the other complaints in their review section; you aren't alone. If you were seen by Dr Scarlett in the past (now left the clinic), do yourself a favour and change to another GP clinic.

My family and I feel very grateful to be enrolled with them, as we consistently experience upliftment and support, by compassion, empathy, and unwavering commitment to our well-being.

   I have recently joined this practice and find everyone really friendly. Receptionist Sheena is a very friendly person and is very good at her job. My doctor Suzan is very good and I find her manner very professional. Highly recommended.

   I have to say, having been to see Dr Mofrad (as a new patient) on quite a few occasions, what a fabulous GP he is. He is very understanding, has the time to listen, a brilliant GP, and is a utter gentleman too. I would recommend this practice to anyone (having come from a GP's practice, that has become a business and has no time for patients). Go and see Dr Reza Mofrad, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

   My husband and I have been attending this medical centre for about a year now and we cannot fault it in anyway. Linda the receptionist and Danielle the nurse are kind and very caring and Reza the doctor we see, is extremely thorough and trustworthy.    Having been a patient of SBMC for many years, I can honestly say that my experiences have been first-class, from Linda, the lovely Receptionist who always has a welcoming smile, to Dr Reza Mofrad, a doctor who actually listens to me. I’ve always received high quality service, and I trust Dr Reza, literally, with my life.
