DO NOT RECOMMEND - Other then my amazing doctor who I had been going too since I was a baby, this place in the last 5 years has just gone down hill, over $70 for an appointment, you have to wait a few days for a 15min appointment at that too, everything costs over the top dollar here even to renew your own bloody medication on the app, why am I paying to do this WHEN I DID ALL THE WORK? the staff are not as friendly and nice as they use to be and if weβre paying top dollar they should be serving us with GREAT customer service, iv changed to white cross and all ready get better service, although I will miss my dr as he actually listened to me compared to some of the other drs who work here. What a waste of what use to be a great doctors.

The absolute best gp i have ever had, I am so happy I decided to change gps due to not being listened to for the last 2 years (more before this diagnoses) but as soon as I enrolled here and spoke with my new doctor (Angela Lee) I was diagnosed within a week and had surgery a week later. She not only listens to her patients but generally cares too. The staff I have personally met with (from reception to nurses and doctors) have been amazingly kind and caring. I am happy to say my family and I have finally found a medical centre that actually care about their patients and their health. Thank you browns bay medical!

The doctors are fine but the nurse never responds to phone calls. I have been waiting for 3 days just to have a call-back about my child's vaccination. Nothing hectic, just a simple enquiry. Nothing. I know NZ has a health system problem, but this isn't a free clinic and the service is somehow less effective. I would shop around.

I hate to write a bad review... But... I had an appointment with Dr. Rick Barber and was extremely disappointed. I had clear symptoms of a wet cough with sputum, difficulty breathing during coughing fits, a temperature of 37.6-37.7Β°C, and a mildest scratchy feeling in my throat. Despite this, Dr. Barber immediately diagnosed me with laryngitis, ignoring my concerns about the major symptom - wet cough. When I tried to ask, he interrupted me, continued to speak about types of cough which were not related to my situation and refused to answer my questions. He performed a quick exam, didnβt find any wheezing, and stated my temperature of 37.4Β°C was normal. He failed to address my symptoms properly and gave an incorrect diagnosis of laryngitis instead of bronchitis, wasting my time and money. I had to seek a second opinion elsewhere. Please consider refreshing your medical knowledge, "doctor". Otherwise, paying for such appointment is useless...

I have come here in recent years with regards to my mental health issues. In almost every instance where I feel as though a medical professional could've given me some support, empathy or just kindness about my situation, I have been met with being treated like a criminal/drug addict. I have asked around with family and friends and have come to find out that this is largely common in the NZ medical space. For example, my father has an acute sleep disorder which results in him struggling to get more than 3-4 hours sleep a night for decades now. When he found a drug that finally worked, Zopiclone, he was relieved but aware that it is only a short-term use drug so there would be certain parameters for his use of it. In this situation whenever some time had gone by and my father was in another really bad place with his sleep and he requested more of this drug, for another period of short-term use, he also was treated as though he was just a drug addict trying to get drugs for recreational use. I have had this exact same issue with Browns Bay Medical Centre with regard to Lorazepam, which if I think far back enough, I'm almost certain I wouldn't have any sort of dependence to it if it weren't for doctors at this medical centre prescribing me bulk loads of it when I was first introduced to the drug 2 years ago. Despite all of this, every time I try to explain my situation (that has been approved by my psychiatrist who spent decades as a psychiatric nurse) to anyone at that medical centre, I leave feeling disgusted with the 'service' I received. I feel as though this is a huge issue in the medical space. This issue being medical professionals taking preconceived ideas gathered from medical textbooks and mindsets alike to a 1970's look on mental health treatment and prioritising that over others REAL, LIVED experiences. They act as though if they haven't personally witnessed something medical/mental health/physical health then it doesn't exist. This is simply an abuse of power, an inhumane one at that. The people that work at this place, specifically the manager Michael Hoogenburg, has treated me with such unprofessional disrespect. I was re-ordering my prescriptions as usual last week, and called tuesday, they said it would be sorted then, it wasn't. Called a few more times on wednesday, they said they'd get the doctor to sort it. Called on thursday, same deal. Now keep in mind I was being told all of this over the phone through the nurses. It was only until Friday that a lovely receptionist informed me that there was a note on my file saying I can not have any more of the drug I had been picking up regularly for months. I found out this situation happened because a doctor of the name Rachel Dallymore didn't want to deal with me, a 20 year old woman struggling with severe mental health issues (and that's all they know about me). The fact that it took a week almost to get this information from a receptionist is honestly embarrassingly unprofessional. I think the people that work there should consider that I am not being paid to deal with them, it's the other way round. Long story short, If you have mental health issues that are anything more complicated than moderate anxiety and depression, I wouldn't expect any level of compassion or professionalism from the doctors there, and trust me, I've tried them all.

I went to my local practice for a sore knee today. Dr Michael Hoogerbrug is as patient and professional as usual. All the other doctors I've seen in the past are all friendly and caring. Thank you guys for all the hard work and your support to the community!

It seems to be very difficult to find a good GP these days so I feel very lucky to be a patient here. All the staff are wonderful and Dr Trudy Warin is amazing, always going above and beyond for her patients.

The best Medical Centre. Doctor Rick Barber the best and all of the doctors and nurses. They always find the way to see my 1 year old daughter when they are fully booked. Wonderful people and very professional.

Both my children are patients of Rick Barber and we have always received great service from him. Friendly, caring and helpful - canβt fault him! We have moved from Albany to Hobsonville and had decided to keep our kids enrolled at BBMC.

Agree with Joy S who posted about the rudeness of staff, I have been a patient of this so called practice since I was 2, I had problems with these people in the last few years, nurses refusing to fill prescriptions even though I told them I was out. The short haired south african receptionist harassing me with emails and phone calls about an outstanding account and not even mentioning to me whether or not I can pay it back weekly just asking for the full amount immediately! Then when I make a complaint Rick Barber the doctor who supposedly runs the place tells me not to come back because I have been "Rude and offensive" to staff. Another person I know states they have lost personal records too. Dont waste your time here because they are a mess and care only about the money they make, what a disgusting way to treat people who have been clients for over 30 years!
