This was our first meal in New Zealand and it set the tone for a fun time in Auckland. I highly recommend the bahn tacos and the cabbage salad. They were both fresh and flavourful.

We enjoyed our time at Cafe Hanoi - food was good. Chicken thigh was tender and well marinated. Soft shell crab salad was refreshing and packed with flavour. Our only feedback was the ban xeo could be crispier and chicken thigh as a main could be bigger.

Second visit. So so good. Staff attentive but not overbearing. They all knew the menu very well. Atmosphere fantastic, in the Britomart building. Food - everything we are was truly amazing and flavourful. Prawns in green rice, pork skewers, whole fried snapper; everything was devoured. The pork went so quick I couldn't get a photo. Oh, and the nearest thing to Vietnamese coffee I have had outside Hanoi. A truly memorable meal. Thank you.

We had dinner with my wife's family In cafe Hanoi a few weeks back and it was amazing. The food was delicious, the staff was really engaging and the dining setup was impressive. The food standout for the Taste, presentation and Verity of different dishes. I would love to come back again next time while we are staying in Auckland.

Vietnamese fusion restaurant. The window seats with a view of Galway Street create a nice atmosphere, with paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The service was friendly and professional. I would recommend the kingfish crudo and tiger prawn entrΓ©e. However, I found the main dish a bit disappointing. The pork belly reminded me of Hong shao rou from Chinese restaurants, but it didnβt have much depth of flavour and was quite sweet. The soft shell crab salad was also served in a sweet sauce, which might not be appealing to those who arenβt fans of soggy fried food. On a positive note, the use of lemongrass was a nice touch compared to other Vietnamese fusions that rely heavily on coriander.

Ventured to Cafe Hanoi for a special dinner date and opted for this month's $75 per head special course menu. The evening began on a high note with the shiitake and water chestnut netted spring rolls; they were delicious, especially when paired with the accompanying sauce and lettuce. The chargrilled NZ octopus didnβt fall behind, offering a unique and satisfying flavor. However, as we ventured further into the menu, the flavors began to challenge our palates. The standout Bun Cha was a great treat, well complemented by lettuces and rice noodles. The poached organic chicken salad, reminiscent of coleslaw, was an interesting mix of sweet and sour. Conversely, the tofu cooked in tomato sauce felt out of place, coming across as another sour dish rather than a fulfilling main. Additionally, the rice didn't seem to complement any of the mains. The dessert, Coconut sago with white chocolate yogurt, while new and intriguing, didn't quite hit the mark for us. While some flavors felt unfamiliar, possibly owing to our limited experience with Vietnamese cuisine, what truly stood out was the restaurant's inviting ambiance and friendly service. All in all, a worthwhile experience for the ambiance and starters, but the main courses might benefit from some tweaking.

I have got to say I am a little bit disappointed as Cafe Hanoi has a very high reputation. Vibes are good, staff are friendly and restaurant was busy. We tried the set menu for Restaurant Month, which I do not recommend, the Octopus dish is AMAZING, but the rest is just OKAY. Shouldβve ordered the prawn, seafood, or green curry instead. Desert coconut sago is directly out of fridge, doesnβt match a good restaurantβs level

Absolutely delicious meal! Went with a large group ~17 people and they were very accommodating. Went with the set menu for simplicity and they delivered. Very generous servings. Thank you!
