   We came here for drinks to celebrate on a Friday, and it was great. Located in Ponsonby Central, it’s a nice place to visit after dinner. It wasn’t as busy as I expected. We were greeted right at the door and seated straight away. It was good to have indoor and outdoor seating options. The staff explained the drinks menu as it was our first time. I really liked the types of drinks they had, and they’re happy to make classic cocktails or mix things up for you. I had a range of cocktails and daisy drinks (simpler cocktails that are slightly cheaper). I loved the different characters of the drinks. They’re aptly named. My favourite was one called 'The Golden Ticket' – the subtle fruity citrus hints made it really light but punchy. They have a good mix of light and dark cocktails, so there is something for everyone. They also have decent snacks; we only got the chips, which were pretty good. A good venue with attentive staff. Keep it up, and I can’t wait to come back.

   Bedford Soda & Liquor. A name so specific, it almost dares you not to go. I entered reluctantly, as one does when approaching any establishment that combines both soda and liquor. What’s next? Pickles and philosophy? Upon arrival, I was seated promptly, as if they’d been expecting me. Suspicious. I ordered a platter, chiefly because it contained olives, and partly because I enjoy the word platter. It evokes grandeur. The platter featured olives. Firm, briny spheres of existential clarity. I ate one and briefly remembered a maths teacher I hadn't thought of in years. Such was their power. Despite sounding like a 19th-century law firm or a fizzy drink-themed train station, Bedford Soda & Liquor is in fact a bar — and quite a good one.

   Right in the heart of Ponsonby The Bedford is a must visit. Great venue with plenty of seating inside and in their garden. Friendly staff, great wines and the food is fantastic. We came for lunch and had the sharing plate, it was delicious and great value for money. We came back for a night time meal the meatballs are delicious! Will be back on my next visit to Auckland.

   Beef meat balls, Parmesan cheese, mash potatoes! That the combo to get for dinner, the polenta fries are nice on the side and all the cocktails were solid! Or just ask for something ya like, either way an awesome spot, great food and staff! Well done team

   Last call drinks at 9, which the order never turned up which they rushed through for us but weren’t happy about it, (very obvious the waitress was grumpy) Advising 15 min later closing at 9.30, on a Thursday in Ponsonby. Turning people away while we were sitting there finishing our drinks. Had to leave paid for drinks behind because they were now “closed”. We have been several times and this has happened a few times. Was hoping just caught them on a slow night . Just seems like they were in a rush to finish work. Went across the road to another bar full which was full. It’s a pity they do good cocktails but now won’t be going back after it happening on more than one occasion .

   Don’t try to go after 10pm because on this occasion absolutely nobody even noticed we were sitting outside at their tables waiting to order our drinks we were 6 people so it wasn’t like we were hard to spot. Although in saying that it was hit and miss because when others came to sit at the other tables they were tended to promptly. The drinks were ok priced but it seems after the pandemic they stopped serving bubbly water and now costs $2.

   If you’re looking for a homey meal that fills you up, the food here is great! The weekly drink specials are super yum and the service is very friendly :) also - if you want a Canadian-ish poutine then get the fries with cheese and gravy! (But ask for extra gravy)

   Meatballs and side! What else do you need. Meatballs were nice but a bit small.. Had side salad which was somehow bland with not much dressing on it. But if you are looking to so some low-key quick lunch, I guess the solution is here. The passion fruit lemonade was really yummy and chicken stripes. I think better to come for drinks as their cocktail menu looked like a bomb
