Popped by on a Saturday evening, pretty full restaurant and busy staff. Got sat down on one of the bar seats with a front row view of all that the main birkenhead street has to offer. Drinks came fast, food was pretty slow but they were very busy and once the food did arrived we were not disappointed. (Worth the wait) Staff were very friendly too! Will be back!

Unbelievable - the flavours in each dish were just amazing - and the wine list was exceptionally well priced and wonderfully in tune with the food. Mulan is in a new location - but it’s the same top quality food. Family friendly - and homely - yet sophisticated & exciting. Thoroughly recommend it.

We were invited by two different friends to meet here and have dinner. They both have come to Mulan often. So we knew it would be good or should I say amazing ….and it was! Mulan has now moved to their new location. It is kiwi and Malaysian in decor …you will love the mural behind the bar. Everyone loved their choices ..the food was so delicious …the owner Carol was so personable and my two favorite people were Zion and Daniel. They both have impeccable manners, professional service and an attitude that makes your evening enjoyable. Thank you for a wonderful time!!❣️ Deb Stevens

Last night my friend and I went to Mulan for dinner. I have eaten here several times when I used to live in New Zealand, but I moved away and I am currently here visiting. It wasn't a question of "if" we would have dinner at Mulan, it was "when" we would have dinner at Mulan. The ambiance at Mulan is cozy with a variety of seating options ranging from chairs, stools or the bench seats with plush cushions to sit back on. Aesthetically, the decorations are beautiful and inviting and the service feels genuinely friendly and relaxed. I ordered the market fish, which looked and tasted amazing with the green mint infused sauce. My friend ordered the chicken curry which looked and tasted fantastic. As a starter we had the spicy pork bun. All of the food was delivered in a timely manner and tasted delicious. The owner of the restaurant came to talk to us at the table. She is a friendly, relaxed, personable woman who has established a unique place to have a meal whether it is a family with kids, an evening out with friends or a dinner out alone.

Mulan is the go-to spot for authentic Singaporean and Malaysian flavours. Their Char Kway Teow is perfectly stir-fried with prawns and Chinese sausage, capturing that signature smoky wok flavour. The Mother-in-Law’s Mee Goreng is tangy and packs a punch, while the Chicken Satay is tender and comes with a rich peanut sauce (we had two servings)! Owner Carol is hands-on and incredibly accommodating, creating an almost fine-dining experience with a personal touch. The ambiance is comfortable yet refined, making it a great spot for both casual and special occasions. Love how the whole restaurant sang a birthday song for a cute kid who’s turning 8 at the time of our visit. Make sure to reserve in advance! The restaurant fills up fast due to its tasty menu. If you're craving authentic Southeast Asian cuisine, Mulan is a must-try!

Amazing night I have with my partner. The food was delicious, and the staffs were meticulous, always moving around and checking every table and customer. The portion was right. We ordered plenty and ended up taking it home. If you like spicy, the sambal babi is a must-try. The fried noodles could have some more taste though.

A very LOVELY restaurant, EXCEPTIONAL customer service, SUPER FRIENDLY staff, PLEASANT environment, and of course EXCELLENT food. Thanks for the lovely little birthday cake surprise :). It's really an enjoyable dinning experience to me and my wife tonight. Would definitely recommend to friends and come back again. :)

Authentic Malaysian food with flavours that will make your taste buds tingle. Some of the dishes really have a bit of a spicy kick. Order mains and entrΓ©es to share, so you can try many different dishes. Best to book a table, as it can be busy. Plenty of parking on main road. Excellent service

Had a nice dinner at Mulan Malaysian Restaurant Birkenhead. Owned by Malaysian Indian Chef and the lady boss is very friendly and approachable. Can taste from the curry that it is cooked from scratch and not from commercial packaging. Lady boss said they only use coconut milk in their cooking, no diary. Laksa not very spicy, little missy had a lot of the laksa noodle by herself.. the Penang Curry also not super spicy, kids friendly too.
