   I thoroughly enjoyed my experience dining at Abruzzo. Our waitress was nice and our food was served quickly. We ordered the calamari, the spaghetti bolognese, the spaghetti carbonara, the calzone, and the prosciutto e funghi pizza. They all tasted great, portion sizes satisfactory, and quite good for Italian food in Auckland. We finished off with the Tiramisu - while not the traditional kind - was still enjoyable. The dining setting looked good too.

   This was one of our favourite local restaurants for many years and after two years away, we returned to the same warm ambience, friendly and efficient service from Blagica and Alex who have been there since 2008. The food is still excellent and comforting. Love the calamari that’s is so tender as it’s grilled not deep fried, complimented by the garlic pizza bread. Our favourite mains include spaghetti bolognaise and cannelloni that are still delicious and piping hot. Food in this restaurant is always better when surrounded by the warm ambience, a flaming heater, bottle of chianti and friendly service. Great to see Abruzzo is still doing well.

   My partner and I had an amazing time at Abruzzo! We ordered the “Abruzzo Pizza” & a cheeky Peroni (best combo), and it was absolutely fantastic! perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. If you're a fan of blue cheese, this pizza is a must-try! The customer service was top-notch—10/10. You can really feel the passion they have for both their food and providing exceptional service. More reason to come back ;) Another highlight was watching the pizza being made and cooked in the wood-fired oven. Who doesn't love a good wood-fired pizza?! The whole experience was a perfect blend of great food and friendly service. Highly recommend it!

   Perfection! I highly recommend booking a table ahead of time as it’s a popular place! We started with the calamari appetizer. It is absolute deliciousness! Not a bit of rubberiness which is hard to achieve with calamari. My husband ordered the ravioli and it was perfect. The pasta was cooked perfectly, not too al dente and not too soft. The sauce was fresh tasting and perfectly seasoned. I ordered the filet which was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. 10/10 recommend!!! My new favorite place in Birkenhead. See you soon!!!

   We enjoyed our meal at Abruzzo. Steak was cooked perfectly, as was the chicken. Happy with the sides too and I recommend the garlic bread. Service was friendly but agree with another reviewer that you should not sit by the menu/cutlery cabinet as it gets busy. We'll definitely be back.
