6 Aug 2025 bought 2 pieces of fish $5 chips and a steak burger. When I got home, opened up the paper and was disappointed at how barely cooked the fish was as both were soggy and the batter barely covered both pieces so I put both pieces in the air fryer to try and brown them but gave up. Fish was tasteless The fries were ok

Last night I bought fish and chips here. They were the VERY BEST that I can remember having! Chips wonderful, fish excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful (giving drawn instructions for the beach detour) and their prices were good value too. One of Auckland's best kept secrets!

A small family run takeaway in Pt Chev, we’ve been ordering from Gourmet Wok for years. This time we ordered our favourite items, fish, chips, sausages and sweet & sour pork. The food is always great, fresh and crispy. Great value for money and fast service.

Crispy, flaky, juicy!! I had came here a couple months ago for a quick take away and these fish & chips at Gourmet Wok blew my mind! Service was fast. The fish was lightly battered and cooked to perfection! The fries were the best I’ve even had! There’s something delicious about where these potato fries came from. What surprised me was the fried oysters and mussels!!! It was also lightly battered and the flavor of these fried oysters and mussels really came through and it was super juicy! I’d come back again for more!

This place is take out only and has been in the area for over a decade! Cute little mom and pop shop. Fast service and the food comes out so crispy each time! I typically get their fish and chips because of how thin and crispy the fish is!

The rice was bland, where's the MSG? Uncle Roger would be sad. The meat was that weird soft stuff, kind of artificial. Using frozen mixed veges is a bit rough too. Loads of customers but not a lot of food coming out and pretty confusing working out whose food was ready. Use a ticket / number system. Extra star for the arcade game at the front.

A I came here because of the good reviews but it was terrible . We got a fried rice & chips. Won’t be coming back

We came here for fish and chips because of the good reviews, but were sorely disappointed. The snapper was barely OK, the Tarakihi didn’t taste nice at all, and the batter was not crispy. Chips were soggy and not seasoned well. We won’t be back.

really nice friendly kind people, never had a long wait for food, my favourites are the hot chips, potato fritters that are crunchy and their cheeseburgers so good. I wasnt keen on their fried rice dishes that I had but I dont eat it often and everyone else seems to enjoy it. Prices are reasonable too, location a bit hit or miss with parking close by, its on the corner of a busy rd, the parking across the rd is a bus stop and theres only 3 parks out the front, side street seems to always have alot of cars parked too but dont mind the walk for a good feed and to give them some business happy to support local esp during these times. pic is the fritters chips and fish
