Not a bad hotel for location and rooms are a bit small but fine. But the service is truly awful! We got stuck in the lift for about 15 mins and had to pry our way out. The hotel didn't help at all, the alarm bell took 3 times for anyone to answer only to learn it goes to an outside company not the hotel anyway. There are cameras in the lifts but they don't check them. When we finally got free and reported it the hotel manager Tassia and she could not have cared less! Wouldn't even apologise as she didn't trap us in there, just said these things happen get over it! Just very rude and hostile. I have damage to my hands from the lift doors trapping me in them, but they clearly don't care about their guests. There's no safety precautions at all for their guests and zero customer service. We are staying to be close to cruise terminal but there are better hotels close by who no doubt care more for their guests. Don't stay here!

I loved this hotel. Staff so friendly and helpful. Rooms and views great. Fantastic location - 2min walk from the ferry terminal and right next to the Waitemata train station (so easy to get to the Puhinui Interchange and then the airport). Love the late check-out of 11am but wasn't so fussed on the check-in time of 3pm and thought the $100 charge for an early CI was a bit expensive when the room was ready. But we were tired and appreciated the chance to have a rest earlier. Breakfast was the best I've ever had (it was mind blowing) and the free chocolate afternoon tea was like nothing I've ever seen before. The views over the city and harbour are great from the 13th floor. It was hot upstairs in the restaurant and we moved a few times as felt we couldn't breathe, but found a good spot on the city side. The only thing I didn't like was that we were in Rm 418 and there was a very loud (it rattled my brain) slamming door close by. I think a staffroom? It woke me up a few times overnight. We were looking forward to a sleep-in the next day but were woken up by this door very early and I found it very irritating. In my tired head it sounded like an angry person deliberately slamming the door, but know it is probably the door itself! Could you maybe install a soft-close mechanism or something similar? I would definitely stay here again, but would just request another floor. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Awesome experience here. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so lovely & welcoming, They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully presented, with everything we needed. Showers super hot and perfect pressure The location was perfect, close to everything we needed while still feeling peaceful and private. We genuinely felt valued as guest, and every part of our stay exceeded expectations. Close to train station, food vendors sight seeing etc I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for quality, comfort, and exceptional service.

Well… what an experience. For $300+ a night, we were expecting at least some level of service. Instead, the only staff we saw were the ones who checked us in and checked us out — apparently the rest were hiding in the lifts, because every single one was full of them. It took us three attempts just to get to Level 10. We arrived 10 minutes before 3pm and were told our room “wasn’t ready because policy is 3pm.” Cute — except it still wasn’t ready at 3pm, so they moved us to whatever room they could find. The restaurant? Closed. Of course it was. Checkout? A breezy 20-minute wait while they tried to locate our car. The lobby? Full of equally thrilled customers, so at least we weren’t alone in the fun. For the price, the service, and the attitude, it really was a masterclass in how not to run a hotel.

I felt a lot of racial bias during my check-in experience. We arrived early around 1pm (check-in was at 3pm), and I completely understand that early check-ins aren’t always possible. As a Platinum member, I had hoped for some flexibility but was told the rooms weren’t ready — fair enough. We went for lunch and returned around 2pm, and the rooms still weren’t ready. However, in the 30 minutes we waited in the lobby, I saw 5–8 other guests being checked in with no issue. When I asked the same front desk lady again if our rooms were ready, she simply said, “No, they’re not ready.” When I politely insisted that she check with the housekeeping team to see if at least one of our rooms was ready so we could freshen up, relax, and plan our afternoon, she finally checked and said, “Oh, one room is ready.” That experience was quite frustrating, especially because moments earlier she had made no effort to verify. What made it more upsetting was seeing a white couple walk in and book a room on the spot — the exact same category as one of mine (around NZD $370 per night) — and they were checked in immediately. I was told other guests had “different room categories,” but clearly that wasn’t the case. If that’s not discriminatory treatment, I don’t know what is. I paid for two rooms, valet parking, dinner, and plenty of drinks — the same or more than many other guests — yet was made to feel less valued. That said, I do want to acknowledge that the rest of the staff were absolutely wonderful. The valet parking lady was so friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant and bar teams were exceptional — genuinely warm, attentive, and kind. It’s just unfortunate that the check-in experience left such a negative impression, overshadowing what could have been an otherwise beautiful stay.

It was my first time staying at a hotel and I'd say it was definitely a great experience! The highlight of the hotel was the location, being so close to so many interesting places!. It's a bit pricey but otherwise i would recommend!

The hotel that is now known as the Movenpick Auckland has been reincarnated over the years with many names. At one time use to be our favourite hotel in Auckland but it's slowly went off the boil. It is now reopened as a Movenpick and we booked their chocolate celebration package. Check in was efficient and friendly and the room was very nice with a large bathroom and comfortable bed. As part of the package there there was a plate of chocolate cakes as a welcome gift and an afternoon chocolate tasting and chocolate drinks available in the bar very enjoyable. In the evening we enjoyed dinner with our guests at the restaurant on the top floor. Breakfast was in the same room and was an above-average Hotel buffet. I think the hotel if it keeps up this standard could become one of our Auckland favourites again.

Stayed here for the weekend since the location is in downtoan Auckland and close to Spark arena. The staff are friendly, helpful and approachable. Rooms are spacious and well cleaned. Amenities are superb and great. During my stay, the hotel's water pipe had been broken so there was no water available, which turned this great stay into a horrible one. The staff did everything they can and relocated me to another hotel. I would definitley give the hotel another chance when I come back to Auckland.

This is a catfish hotel. You expect so much from what you’ve seen advertised. The Rooms are extremely basic and strangely set up. The Room service is just TERRIBLE, expect to be waiting for someone to pick up and the phone ringing in your ear for quite some time. Don’t ask for any syrups in your coffee, they only have the basic range. Staying here on a weekend night isn’t the best decision, where its located is noisy outside. So expect the party scene noise and the cop cars. I felt as though a window was open, it was so evident. Aside from that. The upstairs dining is lovely. I would go here for dinner. But I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Very nice rooms and we had the harbour view which was nice. Unfortunately, this side is directly above a nightclub! Some very noisy patrons leaving at all hours of the night. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would avoid the buffet breakfast at all costs, it was so bad and couldn't even get a proper coffee whilst paying a premium of $42! Go for a walk a find a cafe somewhere. I felt sorry for the staff having to dish that up! The worst hotel buffet I've ever had. I've had 10 times better in third world countries!
