Had a great home training session with Jo after years of struggling to walk my reactive dog, and he has improved incredibly since. We have tried another trainer and different techniques, but Jo really gets to the root of the problem. Other dog daycares wouldn't take my dog as he is reactive and large, but she said that wasn't a problem and now he's happy and socialising in a safe environment. We are so ecstatic that our dog can live his best life without having anxiety and stresses like before! We will be signing him up to the classes in the future as well.

The staff are great and well trained with dogs. Both my dogs love going here and I've also seen an Improvement in both of them since starting.

Puppy classes were great for socialisation and basic obedience however our dog was quite shy around other dogs. Jo suggested bringing him to daycare to build his confidence around other dogs and for the first few months it was going well, he was getting a great report card and seemed to really enjoy his time. After a while he started to develop behavioural issues, reactivity towards other male dogs and extreme fear towards strangers, Jo said its best to keep him in daycare and if he starts to show fearfulness towards humans push him into the person and make him engage with them. This advice raised several red flags as all it did was make my dog shut down from extreme fear. Another issue came when he was dropped off one afternoon by a new member of staff and we asked how long the walk was (he seemed to have huge amounts of energy even after a full day) and we were told it was a 5 minute walk around the block, we has assumed since we were paying a fair amount of money for play, train and walk he would get at least 20 - 25 minutes out. We checked his location throughout the day using his tracker and the walk was a total of about 7 minutes. They also said he was getting in many of the other dogs faces and didn't have good social cues (something we were told would improve with daycare). We ended up pulling him out of daycare and now 2 years on we are still working on his reactivity with other trainers. In all, yes the puppy classes seemed beneficial but other services like daycare and 1-1 in home sessions are not worth the money or potential bad advice.

Hi attended puppy preschool 20 years ago with my first dog woth Jo at a vet practice on Khandallah. Now several puppies later I am still taking my fur babies to Jo and daughter Hope now based in Upper Hutt. Puppies love the socialisation of getting together each week and the guidance and personalised training tips are priceless.

Canine Solutions has helped get our little pup more confident and obedient. They also gave him his first groom and he came home so silky and smelling great. Really personable staff and genuine dog lovers.

Wow puppy and obedience school was awesome - 10/10 Jo and Hope were lovely and gave us the confidence and skills to train a very happy and mostly obedient (few things to still practice!!) dog!

Do not waste your money at this place. My dog attended for almost 2 years in an attempt to socialise him to other dogs. For this whole time we got βperfectβ report cards, but he has not learnt a single thing about being with other dogs. I imagine they just throw all the dogs in the area, without reducing energy levels and teaching meaningful skills for meeting other dogs. Iβm having to start again, because this business is a money making shortcut.

Personally wouldn't recommend the training classes. The environment is loud, very distracting for the dogs and not conducive to learning and we honestly came away from every class feeling downtrodden and frustrated. As someone else has said in another review the back to back classes mean you're in and out with very little personal interaction and our specific concerns were not asked about or corrected during the classes. I'd really expect a lot more for the high price, when other much more personal classes are available elsewhere for a fraction of the cost (which we are now enrolled in). In saying that, our pup has improved a lot in her lead walking during the basic obedience class, but we believe that's really due to our diligence with homework and practice rather than advice we learned from the class (as they told us to do things we were already doing). Lead walking takes practice and time to build success with increasing distractions and we felt like this course doesn't allow for that. We're going to stick to celebrating our pup's progress at her own pace going forward at a more realistically paced training class elsewhere.

Our recently adopted dog has separation and socialisation issues and had Jo at a home visit to provide her advice and knowledge. The visit was definitely beneficial over and above what we'd been trying to reading online. Our dog is now also attending their daycare which is working out well, he comes home happy and tired. After a very nervous arrival for his first visit, he was excited to arrive on his second visit. Note that this review was written after 2 visits to the daycare.

Great place to take your doggo for either training or for doggy day care, even for tiny ones like we have (Chihuahua x foxy), Jo has loads of knowledge and her team are really great too, couldn't recommend Canine solutions enough :D
