    have stayed here twice now, and its now my go too. the staff are friendly, the rooms are a great size and have everything you need, Easy check in, nothing is a drama. Its walkable to everything, lower hutt shops, station village pub. close to motorway, even tho you dont hear it, theres no staff walking round, its quiet, My daughter who is 9 loves it. We have booked 1 bedroom apartment twice, it feels very homely. the only thing bad i could say is maybe a bit more attention to detail on cleanliness, but that is me OCD, its very tidy overall.

    My partner and I stayed for 2 nights. Like everyone else, no receptionist at the desk so had to call the number provided and they asked for my full credit card details on the phone which I found very odd and fishy, that has never been the case for any motels I've stayed at. The very first thing I noticed about the room we stayed in was the smell, as soon as I opened the door there was a disgusting foul smell, it was so bad that we had to immediately open all the windows and even go out of our way to buy some air freshners from the super market. The next thing, were the bugs and cobwebs. Luckily we carry flyspray in the car, killed literally 5 spiders within the first 10 minutes of being there. Fridge made some noises throughout the night but was bearable. Our bathroom & shower was fine. Nice big Tv. Overall, it was a semi decent stay.

    Absolutely disgusting place! I stayed in room 32 β€” it’s full of bugs, everything is filthy, and it’s obvious the staff don’t care about cleaning or maintenance. The water pressure in the shower is so weak it’s almost useless. I’m completely disgusted and angry that I even booked this hotel. Never again! No one should ever stay here

    Extremely disappointed with my experience at Champers Motor Inn. Due to an Expedia double-booking error, I was charged for a room I couldn’t stay in. Both I and Expedia attempted to contact the motel multiple times for a refund, but they outright refused to cooperate. The manager was not on site and refused to speak to me directly, and was incredibly rude and unapologetic. On top of the poor customer service, the room itself was in unacceptable condition β€” there was visible mould in the shower, the oven didn’t work, and I even saw cockroaches. I would strongly advise others to avoid this place. There are far better options in the area that value cleanliness and basic hospitality.

    Arrived late into Lower Hutt on Friday 23rd May and needed somewhere to stay for the night, my son saw Champers on the map so we went in. I wish I hadn’t! I can do dated and old, but I don’t do filthy! We were asked for a bond of $100 which seemed strange, but went with it. We went upstairs to our room, after looking around, I told my son, we can’t stay here. Went back to the office and asked for our money back. The man said he was unable to credit us back! He said he had another room, we went upstairs to the room, it was marginally better, but not much. By this time I was too tired from driving and stayed. We didn’t use any of the utensils or jug etc. The next morning we got out of there as quickly as we could. Strangely, the man we spoke with the night before was able to refund our bond. I then told him what is wrong with the place I am a professional Housekeeper and these rooms haven’t been cleaned in a very long time. I had to clean the cobwebs away from the bed in the lounge area so my son could go to bed.

    My partner was calling out and ringing bells for about 10 minutes in the reception before someone finally came down. He told my partner that there were no rooms available. My partner told him we had booked a room. He said that the website was down and it wasn't his problem! No apologies or anything. Was very stressful as we have a baby and then had to search for another place to stay. Fernhill across the road were amazing, I recommend going there instead!

    I never got to stay as covid locked down happened, so could not use the room. Was offered a credit voucher went to book in one of their other rooms and the rooms were not up to standard, bedding had stains, floor needed cleaning, drawers were broken and poor service. Asked for a refund and they would not, very disappointed.

    Hopeless. I had a booking. When I arrived at 4.45pm the place was locked up with no information of who or how to contact anyone. I finally contacted someone by phone who told me they didn't have a room for me and that they had been trying to contact me all day. Lies!! I had my phone with me all day - no missed calls. Don't book here. Fernhill across the road were fantastic.

    Absolutely unbelievable. Dirty sheets on arrival. Old toothpaste splashed behind the sink and on mirror, tea towel had not been changed from previous Person. Floors not vacuumed. No daily housekeeping. If your lucky you get replaced bathroom towels and bin empty but that's it. They do thier so called housekeeping in the middle of the day late evening. They don't mop the floors, don't vacuum, don't make the beds. No restaurant like stated. Hardly anyone in office. Found receipts from previous people down side of couch. Bed too soft and springy. Definitely a cheap old bed. Not worth the money you pay. Should only be a 1 or 2 star. This place should be reported.

    I booked in my partner and had reception agree to a cost of $150 for the night. They forced me to agree to pay by credit card or they would not hold the room. I was then charged $172.38!! NOT what was agreed! When queried, they argued that was the credit card convenience fee. That was clearly not true! I called and emailed and called some more, to arrogance, fob offs and general delay tactics. They never called back when they said they would call back and to this day nearly 2 weeks later, I have not had any refund. Watch out as they keep your credit card details on their files too, which I never agreed to, and from their behavior, that concerns me. Also of note, there is no cutlery in the room, so if you MUST stay here, take your own. We wont be back. I will be happy to change this feedback when the issue is resolved but they have dragged the chain blaming each other and their 'finance department'. Give me a break! I have worked in hotels too, made charging mistakes and made appropriate refunds. IT IS NOT THIS HARD people!
