Kitekite Falls is a beautiful and rewarding hike, perfect for a short adventure near Piha. The trail takes about 30 minutes to reach the top of the falls, starting off on an easy boardwalk before transitioning into a semi-steep climb. It’s manageable for most fitness levels and stays interesting the whole way up. At the top, you’re treated to a stunning view of the multi-tiered waterfall and a serene natural pool where you can take a refreshing swimβ€”definitely a highlight of the experience. Parking was easy, and the trailhead is conveniently located just five minutes from Piha Beach, making it a great stop to pair with a beach visit. Highly recommend for anyone exploring the area.

Kitekite Falls: Seriously Loved This Spot! Had such an amazing time at Kitekite Falls! If you're new to hiking or just want an easy-win adventure, this is totally the one. The main track to the base of the falls is super manageable. It took me around 40 minutes one way, just taking it easy. You get awesome views for minimal effort! Quick Heads Up & Tips: β€’ Don't skip the top! Seriously, it only takes an extra 15–20 minutes to get to the lookout at the top, and the view down the waterfall is gorgeous. You won't regret that quick detour. β€’ Watch the weather: The creek can flood fast if there's been heavy rain. Definitely look out for any caution notices on wet daysβ€”safety first! β€’ Parking is easy: Plenty of car parks available at the start of the track, which is always a bonus. β€’ Protect the Kauri: Please follow the instructions and scrub your shoes at the wash stations to help prevent Kauri dieback. It’s super important to keep those trees healthy. Go check it out, you'll love it!

Gorgeous spot and stuck a stunning walk. One of my faves. A combo of board walk alongside a Gorgeous steam leading up to a water fall and the added bonus of checking out the beach before you leave. You may get your feet wet at the steam crossing of your not so happy to rock hop. Lots of lovely swimming spots on the way.

The trail is very well marked and maintained with different options to approach the bottom of the waterfalls clockwise or counterclockwise, and an offshoot to climb the "stairs" to the very top of the falls. Absolutely beautiful and conveniently close to Auckland for a day hike.

Great sight to see, if you can brave the cold water I suspect it would be great to swim in the small pool under the falls. If you take the left path there's LOTS of steps, taking the right pah is probably just as steep but takes you down a little stairway to the water, just a little to the side of the falls. Easy enough to cross to be in front. You'll understand when you're there

Breathtaking views and absolutely lovely walking trail, beautiful, clean, and well maintained with a bit of history information. Our kids are 4, 8, and 15, and this was easy enough for all of them. We all had a blast. There are places where you can have a quick bite as well.

Beautiful waterfall, well maintained paths. Quite a few stairs, but at a slow pace it's manageable even for those who have low fitness. Parking is free and plenty big enough for our camper.
