We were surprised on how huge their serving size is, yet affordable and their dishes are tasty too. The corn and egg soup is a plus point. I highly recommend to try their roasted pork and duck. The restaurant is not fancy but clean and tidy. By far one of onehunga’s best chinese restaurant.

Very good value Chinese food. I go here at least once a week at lunchtime. Always ordered BBQ pork and roast pork on rice ($16 at the time of writing) - never disappoints. Picture has my hand in it for reference on their portion size. I feel that the portion has shrunk a bit since I first went here but it's still good value.

First time trying Kongs Kitchen! We ordered a wonton noodle soup and duck on rice. Wow. Everything was beautiful! So affordable and delicious! Wonton noodle soup: the best in Onehunga. Period. Broth is clear as it should be and tastes like something that will heal your soul. Slightly peppery and full of depth. The wontons were delicious! Very fresh porky flavour and the noodles were super bouncy and chewy, not soggy at all!!! Duck on rice: absolutely delicious. Duck was served with white rice, cabbage and drizzled over with a beautiful sauce. I wish I had taken a photo before I ate but i literally inhaled the food as soon as it arrived My new fave spot! I wish I knew about this spot earlier!!

Very fast, maybe cause we went in during public holiday. Friendly owners. You get served tea and corn soup for free. And refill for tea. Which is really nice service. We ordered salt and pepper squid, fried green beans, and wok fried veges… and pork on rice. Yes all very good flavor :)

Used to be Kong’s. Now it’s called Happy BBQ kitchen and all the prices went up a little. Tried Combination fried rice, black bean sauce beef rice noodles and sweet and sour pork. I give 9 out of 10 for fried rice and sweet and sour pork. But, maybe, 3 or 4 for black bean beef.. doesn’t really have the strong black bean sauce flavours.. it’s just too plain. Maybe try next time something else. Really want to try lemon chicken and kung po chicken. :) Pretty good portions too!!! I will definitely come back again!!!! Yay!!!

I think it’s called Happy BBQ Kitchen now, but literally the best salt and pepper tofu I’ve ever had. The seasoning and the batter is so good and such a big portion! If you’re a vegetarian seriously come here and get the salt and pepper tofu, I’ve eaten a lot of this in my time but this place has the best I’ve ever had

I've been coming here for years. Even with the change in ownership a few years back, the roasted pork on rice remains superb! When dining in, you'll consistently get a free corn soup and hot tea. Good relaxed atmosphere good to eat with my family or by myself.

This lil kai joint is a gem amongst a tonne of Onehunga eats. Kongs serves real cheap delicious Chinese shíwù. Go Kongs Kitchen to dine on the fine kai, not to eat the decor, so why whine, right ? The Ladies there are expert chefs of the humble kind. Go get your Zhōnghuá shíwù today....

It's cheap, that's about the only good thing I can say about this restaurant. Quality of the food? Terrible. Decor and ambience? Non-existence. Service? Worse than school cafeteria.

Always come here for a cheap eat, food is delicious and portions are really great. Comes with free soup and tea if you eat in, really worth the money!
