Have spent around $85 and the elderly man has made few mistakes in charging more than what we ordered. He was more busy in watching a movie than his customers, was serving with one hand, phone in another hand and eyes on the TV. Not impressed at all. The food was not great either, ordered mirchi bajji, punugulu, chicken fry, thali, dosa, chicken palav etc. not worth. If customer service is not changed I can't see this place flourishing in the near future as there are better options on the street vendors

I had a very bad experience here. On my recent visit, I was paying with my credit card. There was no sign anywhere saying not to use credit cards. The cashier, an elder man, hit my hand while I was paying and then yelled at me for doing so. This is ridiculous. He got mad just because they have to pay extra fees. Iβve been coming to this restaurant for a very long time, but no more. For few dollars, theyβve lost a regular customer.

βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ 5/5 A Taste of Home at Venkyβs! Tried the Veg Thali and it was absolutely delicious β felt just like a home-cooked South Indian meal! Every item on the plate was packed with flavour, fresh, and comforting. Perfectly balanced spices, great variety, and served with warmth. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic, home-style South Indian cuisine in Auckland. Will definitely be back!

The South Indian food was quite enjoyable, and while the service was initially a bit lacking, it noticeably improved on my next visit.

Come here if you want delicious, pungent and affordable Indian food. We had the fried chicken curry, the special combo meal (non veg) and the punugulu. The combo meals are definitely the way to go - lots of food and variety for a small amount of money. The fried chicken curry was delicious but Iβd recommend getting some sides to go with it.

Delicious food and reasonably priced. Service is slow but understandable as food is freshly prepared Update Over the last couple of months I must have tried most of their items on the menu Thali is worth having if you are want home style food Mutton curry - this has to rank among one of the best mutton curry Iβve ever had Dosa/idly/vada - all excellent. Bangalore masala dosa and Vada is usually our go to when undecided on the food Chicken pulav - this beats most of the biryanis - another excellent item on the menu

My partner and I tried to go here for dinner, but ended up leaving because of the rude service/lack of service. The place was empty when we arrived. We walked up to the counter and waited. When no one came out, I picked up two of the menus to take back to the table. Then the owner (?) came out, didnβt say a single word, and held his hand out. I thought he wanted me to give him the menus back, so I tried that, but no. My partner thought he was trying to shake his hand, but not that either. Then we thought he was gesturing towards the table to take a seat, not that either. By this point he was huffing/sighing, but still had not said a single word. I asked if we could take the menus back to the table to see what we wanted to order, but he just stared at me. I was left wondering if I had unknowingly offended him. If I did, that was truly not my intention! We took the menus back and once we sat down he started muttering to himself. Two men arrived while we were there and he came out promptly and took their order at the table. We decided on what we wanted and closed our menus and I smiled to try and show we were also ready to order. He walked really slowly down the middle of the tables and refused to make eye contact. I tried to say we were ready to order, but he physically turned his head away as he walked back past our table. At this point we cut our losses and left. Iβm still unsure what went wrong in our interaction? Especially as the two men that came in after us seemed to have their order taken reasonably smoothly. When speaking to another couple who tried to go here, they said the owner completely ignored the woman when she tried to order and would only take the order from the manβ¦ Would not recommend to anyone.

This quaint South Indian eatery, operated by a delightful family duo, is a must-visit for aficionados of authentic Andhra cuisine. The fare, skillfully prepared with traditional techniques and spices, is a testament to the establishment's commitment to providing a genuine culinary experience. Remarkably affordable, patrons can expect to savor an array of delectable dishes, each reminiscent of the warm, comforting meals that a doting mother might lovingly prepare at home. The proprietors' hospitality only adds to the overall charm of this establishment, making it a destination not to be missed for those seeking to indulge in the robust and flavorful tastes of South India.

If you are looking for a place with a good ambience and great decor, this isn't the place for you. What they do have to offer is simple, hearty amazing food. The food is extremely reasonable given the current rise in prices we see everywhere else. We ordered a Banglore masala Dosa which did not disappoint, it was accompanied with a refreshing coconut chutney, the most simple yet flavorful sambar and a flavor bomb of a pickle too. The venky's non veg meal was the most bang for buck. Chicken curry, palak dal, rassam, curd, a chapati, papas, rice pickle and to top it all off a gulab jamun. We also ordered a chicken fry which had just the right amount of spice and was super masaledar.
