The kai here is amazing. Havenβt had a bbq pork and crispy pork like this since moving from Auckland.
You know what they say, sometimes simple is just better. Ladies and Gentlemen, whilst the photos may make this food look simple I'm here to tell you, the flavour profiles are complex and robust, not to mention, delicious! I've searched every nook and cranny of Wellington for the best Roast Pork and not only did I find it here, I also (accidentally) stumbled upon Wellingtons best Duck! You need to try it. But be warned, should you dare to try it, bring a seat belt. This is a wonderful ride of flavour profiles meshed perfectly with food ladened satisfaction.
This is the BEST duck I ever had in my life, Iβm a roasted duck searcher everytime Iβm dining out from home and my father is a Chinese chef too, the chef in this place remember me him so much. There are seats to eat in and he does also massive take aways, the price is cheap compared to the portions. Really tasty meals and we stayed three days in Wellington going there at least once a day to eat his food. Super suggested! P.s. He may not super chatty like other restaurant owners but you can tell how much passion and love he put in what he does. He knows what to do if you have special request! Give it a try β¨
Food selection is a lot, you can see from my picture. Ordered 3 items, stir fired crispy pork with egg on rice, sichuan chicken, and seafood egg gravy with rice noodle (Horfun). Stir fried crispy pork is the best while the sichuan chicken is too salty. Ordering is fast but the chef is doing 1 by 1 cooking so it tends to be abit slow. Other than that, everything is perfect. Shop is abit old and rustic style so kind of like a real chinatown feeling shop.
Love their char sui (bbq pork) here. Have it all the time, especially when I am too lazy to cook. Also the roast duck is good and usually have the two meat combination with bbq pork and roast duck. Also I reuse my container and they are happy for me to do so (I make sure it is clean everything).
Great crispy and BBQ pork on rice. Good value for money and it is what they do best. The rest of the menu (Chow Mein etc) is pretty uninspiring. The owner guy is pretty scowly but the lady nice.
Extremely fast service, we got the roast duck, crispy pork and bbq pork on rice plus a serving of fried rice and it was all fantastic, very good value for money, two dishes served our family of 3 comfortably. Highly recommend if you're in the area and want some quick comfort food cooked well.
