First time here and recommend to book as by the time I got here the place was full (fortunately I booked ahead). Menu items look very authentic and the highlight for me was the crab fried rice. Flavours are unique and seem like you don't see items like this at other Thai restaurants. The salad we got used fermented prawn sauce as an ingredient for their dressing so for people who are not used to these kind of flavours it can come off a but pungent but all ingredients they used were very fresh. The crab fried rice is a must order! The rice and egg bits were nicely seperated while retaining a little bit of firmness in the rice and when you look up close, you can see there are actually alot of little bits of real crab meat shreds in their and on first bite you will get taste a gust of amazing umami taste, that's when you know they are using fresh ingredients. The tom yum soup was kinda like a hot pot and have a good amount of seafoods in the soups including: prawns, fried hoki, scallops and some veges and aromatics. The soup was hot and sour and you could also taste the zest and fragrance of the limes. They have a range of items on their menu from noodles, curries, salads and soups and is a great place for sharing and enjoying meal together.

I’ve been to Kiin Thai twice within four days — that’s how good it is! They serve authentic traditional Thai food, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup were full of fresh ingredients and rich flavours. And the mango sticky rice… it tastes like a dream! Can’t wait to come back for more.

This place is always busy so recommend you make a booking. The food is tasty and consistently good. And between October and February, you have to regularly go to eat, or just drop in to grab the mango sticky pea flower rice, as the season is limited! Dominion Rd was buzzing, despite no rugby game on at Eden Park and lots of people out which was great to see. Worth a visit :)

Kiin Thai in Mt Eden might serve fresh food, but honestly the whole experience left a sour taste. First off, the prices are steep – you’re looking at $25 or more for a single dish. The food itself was nice and fresh, but nothing so extraordinary that it justifies the cost. What really ruined it though was being told we had to finish within one hour because we didn’t have a booking. For a restaurant that charges that much, rushing paying customers like that is pretty shocking. Dining out is meant to be enjoyable, not a timed race against the clock. We felt pressured the entire meal, which completely killed the atmosphere. On top of that, the tables are crammed so close together that you can practically hear every word from the next table. It feels more like sitting in a noisy cafeteria than a proper restaurant. Parking around Mt Eden is also a hassle, which just adds to the frustration. So yes, the food is fresh, but between the high prices, rushed service, cramped seating, and parking headaches, I honestly wouldn’t recommend Kiin Thai unless you enjoy paying a premium to be hurried out the door.

Overall 5/5. The staff are nice and recommended us to combine the popular marinated prawn and salmon salad together, since ordering both would be too much for 2 of us. I’d recommend this salad if you love raw food. Seafood Tom yum hot pot is amazing, $42 and generous portion size, tasty soup with full of fish, prawn, squid and vegetables. The stir fried pork mince on rice is kinda a specialty at Kiin, unique dark soy sauce flavor with a bit crispy & crunchy, so good with rice. The place is clean and tidy, also super busy even after 2pm, better book your table if u wanna come at a peak time.

One of the Best Thai restaurant in Auckland. They served Authentic and Fresh food every time we ordered while we were dining in the restaurant. Cost and quantity are directly proportional which is really good. Street parking options are available depending on what time you decide to go.

Tasty food. Ordered medium spicy stir fry which was quite spicy. Small and popular place, recommend booking. Next time would like to try the Pad kra pao.

It gets busy during dinner time, but it’s worth the wait as this is one of the tastiest Thai places in Auckland, the flavours are distinct. Highly recommend any of the Fried Rice, Pad Kra Kao with Tom Yum Wontons.

Delicious and authentic Thai cuisine. Pork mince rice is recommended. But wait time is too long, we wait for 50mins……..

Absolutely amazing food. Great value for money as well. The Tom Yum soup with seafood and noodles was first that I tasted something like that. Very impressive!
