   I highly recommend this place. I didn’t have a lot of time in Auckland but they were quick to reply to my message and able to squeeze me in the next day. Gordy is an absolute ledge and an unbelievable artist. He was able to accommodate my generic request for a kiwi and gave it some flare, also fitting it nicely in between some of my pre-existing tattoos. Couldn’t be happier!

   ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had such a great experience at Sunset Tattoo in Auckland with Gordy! Before our trip, I did a lot of research on tattoo shops in Auckland, and Sunset Tattoo stood out right away—their reviews are consistently excellent, and their work on social media speaks for itself. I was so happy they were able to get me in while we were traveling through. The whole process was seamless—booking was easy, making a deposit online was straightforward, and Gordy even had a mock-up ready for me before I arrived. The shop itself was spotless, and everyone I met was friendly and welcoming. Gordy was fantastic to work with—not only incredibly talented, but also so easy to talk to (my husband and I probably talked his ear off, and he didn’t seem to mind one bit!). You can tell he genuinely loves what he does, and that passion comes through in his work. He created a tattoo that’s both a permanent souvenir of my trip to New Zealand and a piece filled with personal meaning. I knew I wanted the classic fern tattoo here in NZ, but with my own twist—a Boston fern frond instead of the traditional silver fern. Boston ferns were a very special part of our wedding, grown by family members, and they’re something we keep on our porches every summer back home. Gordy brought that vision to life beautifully. For me, the fern frond symbolizes new beginnings, personal growth, and resilience—and thanks to Gordy, I now have a piece of art that captures all of that perfectly. Couldn’t recommend him or Sunset Tattoo more highly!

   Just had a tattoo done by Carpe and it was amazing. He got the design and colour matching to a T and it looks fantastic. Aside from the wicked tattooing skills, he was also a lovely person to have as my artist and was very informative about aftercare (great for any people wanting their first tattoo). The price also wasn’t extortionate which is ideal when you’re a uni student. I am so so happy with the outcome! I would trust him for all my future pieces too, so he better not leave haha

   Got a custom walk-in tattoo. I had an idea of what I wanted, and Gordy made it way cooler then I imagined. I came in at 2 pm with the idea, got back at 4 and then we started. Very good service and nice tattoo by Gordy. (My first tattoo)

   Gordy was amazing. We had a group tattoo done. The shop atmosphere was relaxed, bright and cheerful, quite unlike a normal tattoo studio. Gordy was fun and put us all at ease, especially my daughter, who was having her first tattoo. Gordy was really good and detailed in his work. I would really recommend this place.
