Located right in the heart of the city, on the bustling "Golden Mile," Midland Park is a much-needed breath of fresh air. This isn't just another patch of grass; it's a carefully cultivated green oasis providing respite from the surrounding concrete and glass towers. You'll find it teeming with office workers every weekday, escaping the corporate grind to enjoy their lunch breaks or simply take a moment to recharge amidst its calming atmosphere. More than just a lunchtime haven, Midland Park offers a delightful experience for anyone in the city. Its proximity to cafes and downtown shopping makes it easily accessible and a perfect spot to pause and relax. The mix of lush trees, vibrant green grass, and a gentle water feature create a genuinely tranquil environment. It's not uncommon to see people stretching out on a blanket, enjoying a picnic, or even participating in an impromptu outdoor yoga session. The park's origins add to its charm. Originally the site of the Spanish-style Midland Hotel, its acquisition by the Wellington City Council in the 1970s marks a forward-thinking decision to create inner-city green spaces. This initiative, echoing similar movements in urban environments globally, recognizes the critical importance of "breathing space" for those working and living in the city. Midland Park serves as a testament to this vision, providing a place to connect with nature and find a moment of peace within the urban landscape.

A Wellington CBD classic. Come see the bureaucrats eat lunch. Watch the shoppers rest. Marvel at the afternoon drinkers. Join the lunchtime crowd. Peak at the workers scuttling into the tower. You know you want.

Nice little park in the middle of a bustling city. Cute little pigeons. Calming plants. Nice sculpture. Great place to have lunch!

MP is in a very handy location, close to major shops and services in the CBD in Lambton Quay district. With its greenery, graceful trees and water fountains it is a magnet for the lunchtime crowds during the week and a perfect location to pitch concerts and open-air performances such as the recent Christmas Concert held on Sunday, which together with the other Xmas attractions, attracted a large turnout. Concerts held here are usually a great hit as they often showcase wonderful local talent.

Nice park in the middle of the CBD. Not much shelter though so not ideal when it's raining

Great spot in the middle of Wellington. I enjoyed the restaurants and cafes located in and around here and really enjoyed the sculptures. Plenty of space to sit in the sun or shade depending on the time of day. It was also a good reference point for my hopeless navigation.
