I’ve been going to Auckland Pet Hospital but live closer to Herne Bay Vet. Heather and other staff work at both. It was the same high quality, compassionate and professional service.
The team here are incredibly caring and helpful. We had to make a very tough decision regarding one of our dogs getting an operation and these guys made sure to take incredibly good care of her and kept us up to date the whole time. We took in a rescue a while ago as well and they have been very helpful answering any questions and concerns we had around that.

Perfunctory bordering on rude (male vet). This sentence on their website is rather curious: "We pride ourselves on providing the best veterinary care and services for your pets." Really? I wouldn't if I was you. Maybe the vet was having a bad day. Maybe he doesn't like his job. Either way, take your unsatisfactory attitude somewhere else. I was looking for a new vet clinic for my cat but needless to say Herne Bay Vet Clinic won't be it. Two stars for the woman on reception - at least she was pleasant. In hindsight, after talking to a friend about the effort her vet goes to, I've changed it to 1 star.
We had an emergency with our cat who suddenly stopped eating on our return from holidays. Contacted Steve and crew at HBVC for the first time. They have been super-helpful and friendly. Ensured our fur baby was looked after and accommodated extra appointments & worried owner calls/questions-highly recommended.
We just got a new cat and we took her to get a microchip and vaccine and our experience was so good, the reception lady was so nice, Vet very experienced and confident, it was efficiently run and we were really happy. Would highly recommend this vet clinic.
As always, without fail, Here Bay vets was 100%. Staff are friendly, efficient and good communicators. My cat has no current health issues but I know that should this occur I can be sure that his needs will be met. I'm a human nurse and have a basic understanding of animals too. I would reccomend Herne Bay Vets as a safe, professional, thorough and holistic practice.
I was really stressful and concerned about my cat who started to show signs of not being able to open her right eye and I was worried death. So I call first thing in the morning to book an appointment for her and all the clinics are fully booked. Even Herne Bay as well of course. But what I love about them is they don't just hang off the phone telling me there's no spot for my cat, instead they provided me with some useful information on what to do and they showed care to my cat's situation ♡ I'm really grateful for the lady who answered my call this morning;) she was super helpful and lovely! Can't recommend this vet enough even ive only been there once.
