My boyfriend was admitted here after having a critically severe anaphylactic episode and although they might not see this I wanted to thank all the staff in ED/Resus, ICU and CCU for taking care of him (especially Dr Harry, Dr Asher, Julee, Alice/Alison, and Tyesha). You all did such an excellent job.

We just spent a couple of hours in Lower Hutt A & E. For a place where you are dealing with people in pain, I cannot speak highly enough about the service we received from the nurses and the doctor. Especially Nurse Jaynie. She did her best to distract my mum and keep her mind off the pain and it was very greatly appreciated. Please know that you are all doing an exceptional job. Thank you heaps

Emergency department needs a better system. I sat from 8 am at 11.30 am i was still waiting. I regard my situation at the time urgent as the Morphine is was using was not helping either my pain and I was using more than prescribed yet people in my view was not in a worst situation than myself. I need to know how does the nurse determine who gets seen first. I don't think it fair on the people that arrive early has to wait. The system that is been used is not fair nor is it waiting.

Nobody likes being at a hospital, but all the nurses and Doctors and the care assistant staff have look after my family member so well and they are super supportive to the family members who are visiting the patients, they have area where you can go make yourself a coffee or tea, all cross the road from main entrance there is a cafe thatβs makes are good coffee they have good sections of food, right next door there is store where you can buy magazines, flowers and basic groceries. So big thank you to the ICU team and the plastic unit on Level 3 , your are wonderful awesome peopleβ¦.

Disgusted by todayβs experience and the awful reception team. The large woman at the front desk in e.d was abusive to me and rude as hell. I could hear them making fun of the fact my baby had stopped breathing! What the actual hell is wrong with the women who work there?!!! They were making fun of peoples names and talking loudly in bad form. Four hours waiting with a very sick baby who had almost died and people way less sick weβre going straight in. Had to leave in the end as had no food for my baby and no one would help us. Iβm beyond words

Mixed review; Went in with a knee injury sustained at work and disappointed with the advice. I actually had good service with accomodating admin. However Iβm disappointed with the advise from the doctor. I was told by the doctor that my knee was only a sprain, they also said I would be right to go back to work in a couple of days. This advice sounded incorrect, I could hardly put weight on my knee without it buckling. I made an appointment with my local doctor, he had immediate concerns and referred me to a knee specialist. Results have now come back and I have sustained a compete ACL tear and grade 1 MCL sprainβ¦ This is seriously making me question the advice given by doctors. Additionally, waiting room had some very interesting people in it. So in short some improvements are needed!

Despite a urgent referral from my GP, I was forced to wait for hours in the waiting room while I vomited everywhere, numerous times with no help, before collapsing. Can hear the nurses talking about other patients and yourself loudly, making rude comments, talking about how to clear beds quickly, and its awful hearing them talk about getting rid of yours when you just arrived and have only been given panadol and your issues are still very much unresolved. Constant loud beeping right over cubicles, makes it impossible to sleep and exacerbated my already severe anxiety disorder. Treatment had been working for 12 + hours at this point. I made a request to leave which was ignored. Ended up being worked into a complete breakdown over the inability to sleep and the inhospitable environment. At which point a doctor arrived before telling me in the most rude soul crushing way; "I dont have time for you" Being alone in the hospital with no way to contact family/friends due to no phone, the hospital only allows wifi access to those in specific wards. I was only able to get in touch with anyone due to a kind nurse logging me into hers after I expressed my stress. Not everyone has a phone and I would of been stranded without that lovely nurse.

Another great service by useless ED.. been there with severe stomach ache and they advised minimum waiting hour is 4 hrs. I was feeling dizzy and blanked out after waiting for a while and went to let them know, they said they dont have any space where i can lie down.. i headed back home with severe pain knowing i may be falling down on the floor if i wait more. ( above all i went there with my 4 yr old child waiting there). Humanity is not in books for lowerhutt ED. Hats off to the lady in reception and the nurse i talked to. They even mentioned if i head back home and some thing happens, they wont be responsible for denying service since i left the hospital on my decision.. great jobs guys.. way to go..

Brought my grandson 12 years old in, upon advice from health line, for a strep throat test. We arrived around 10:30 pm last night. Now 05:44 am and we are still waiting to see a Dr. for the test. There were 7 people in front of us, it's not that busy. This is extremely frustrating and upsetting. Brilliant job Lower Hutt Hospital. Remember, he is only 12.
