Staff are great and Helpful, stayed here while my father was emergency flighted to Wellington hospital, you won't find closer and prices are great. Onsite parking! If your loved one is in ICU or other wards it's a safe walk across the streets at all hours. Rooms are nice and absolutely best shower pressure I've ever had in my life!
Very happy with my stay rm 304 at Southgate Motor Inn. The location is great and as for the room. 1. Beautiful fresh, good size apartment. 2. Lovely comfortable king size bed. 3. Lovely hostess, very pleasant and helpful 4. Quiet, surprisingly quiet. Traffic noise is bare minimal. Wind noise you can quietly hear but no whistling noises. 5. Shower pressure is wonderful. 6. Lovely cleaners who made sure my room was immaculate when returning for the hospitals ICU. 7. I personally could not fault Southgate. My stay has been lovely and stress free from the hospital environment I returned from nightly. 8. Staying on my own and being female from a small town, I felt safe and secure while staying here. and that was important for me 8. Thank you, I highly recommend and will return if need. Highly recommend this place. We were needing accomodation close to the hospital and this was perfect. Spacious room, comfortable bed and close to takeaways. Everything was clean and staff were friendly.
I checked in fairly early (before 4pm) so didn’t have a problem but it looked like parking would be tight. Reception staff were busy but friendly and helpful. (I walked to the recommended Indian restaurant for a delicious meal.) My room was nice and clean. There was traffic noise if the window was open (busy Wellington), but overall quiet - no noise from other rooms. Really liked the shower. Although Booking dot com point out in their confirmation email I think staff should say they have put a ($100) hold on the debit card. (Yes it was released the following week).
The staff are nice but the rooms are dirty. When I took my shoes off inside, the floors felt unclean and sticky. The tiles are visibly dirty, the carpet feels like it’s all stuck to itself with dirt, and the bathroom isn’t thoroughly cleaned.
We come every two months and used to like coming here . New owners taken over and price of our room went up $100. Reception is rude and on arrival no one there speak English. Picked up the phone and no answer. Had to wait for over 15 min before finally someone arrived ( who spoke English ) . No apology. Very disappointed .
Very accommodating staff and we had to get extra accommodation due to family member needing longer time in hospital. They were very helpful and gave us another room which was much nicer than the first room we had. Very spacious, clean, tidy, quiet, and so close to everything
Price was good. Size was good. Reception was friendly. Bathroom and spa were good. There was a sign advertising for a house keeper - and they need one. Place was tidy, but grubby. A few McDonald’s chips under the kid’s bed from a previous guest; extractor fan was very dirty. Mexican place down the road did a good dinner. I would stay there again for the price. My wife wouldn’t stay there again for the grubbiness.
