"Auckland's Quietest Cinema Adventure" Hidden in the heart of Auckland’s CBD is a cinema with major β€œghost town” vibes and I mean that in the most peaceful way possible... Event Cinemas Queen Street sits atop what feels like a semi retired mall where the echo of your footsteps might be louder than the crowd... Perfect for introverts and movie lovers who hate lines... Getting to the cinema is like playing a game of mall hide and seek... Multiple entrances, escalators and that one suspiciously quiet corridor that still somehow gets you there... But once inside you’re rewarded with comfy sofas, friendly staff and a warm cup of overpriced cinema coffee while you wait... Popcorn? Check.. Sodas? Bubbling.. Tickets? Easy.. Toilets? Clean and big enough to do yoga… but be ready for a mini walk and hike... Bonus points: Arrive early and you can bowl downstairs or destroy some aliens in the gaming lounge at the basement while waiting for the movie... Great for groups, dates or solo adventures when your social battery is low but your film craving is high... "Logan was here for the movie, stayed for the maze... Found the toilet, eventually."

Make sure you go to their website for showtimes and do not trust Google. I came here to watch "HIM", but the showtime didn't exist. I was able to catch a late showing of "The Smashing Machine". The theater was small, but the chairs were comfy. The theater was conveniently located close to my hotel, so I walked over. The male toilet was really tight, but clean. A bigger bathroom and having bathroom in multiple levels would be ideal. I would go back here. I'd like to see an iMax movie here.

Video and sound qualities were good, But cleanliness of the building should be dealt with.

the interior is so cool but i kinda got mixed up with the escalators and the stairs were kinda weird for leading into a bunch of different stores like the back of daiso. very spacious area but it feels lonely without a massive amount of people. i hope more ppl will visit this place so i can follow the crowd if i need to get out of the building.

I have been going to EVENT Queen St for over 10 years since I was a uni student. It was in dire need of repair/refurbishment which they did a few years ago. All 12 cinemas have now been upgraded which is great, but sadly IMAX is still the same. The interior of the building looks very depressing since COVID where everything has closed on the ground floor. The cinemas remained open thankfully, as did a few other places. Cinema customer service can be pretty good depending on the staff member that serves you, but most are friendly. Prices are expensive as it costs $25 for a standard adult ticket if you are not a member of Cinebuzz, or $23 if you are. Gold Class is even worse, charging $38 per person. IMAX is the worst, charging $27.50 because that theatre is so old and worn. They did not upgrade that one for some reason, and they should have especially because this is no longer the only IMAX in the country. Another one has since opened in Lower Hutt. I do not really order food and beverage so I cannot really comment on the prices, but I am aware that it can be expensive as with other movie theatres. This building has 12 cinemas + an IMAX theatre. Cinemas 1-6 are on one level, and these theatres are generally great to see movies. Cinemas 2, 5 and 6 have the recliners/daybeds, which is fantastic, while 3 and 4 serve Gold Class. As for cinemas 7-12 (the top floor), most of these are smaller than the ones on the lower level. In both cinemas 10 and 11, the screen is too high for the seats (even in the back row) so you are looking up the entire time. Theatres 9 and 10 are tiny compared to the rest so I prefer to avoid them. I have read other reviewers complaining about bathroom accessibility, and they are right. There is one available on level 4 and it is tiny, with one cubicle (male toilets). It may be time for an upgrade there. Overall, even with its flaws, Queen St is probably my favourite movie theatre in Auckland. All cinemas now have upgraded larger seats with more leg room and space. I am just disappointed that IMAX did not receive the same care and will probably be avoiding it until it does. Prices aside, I highly recommend EVENT Queen St.

Awesome!! The Indiana movie was abit long though, trying to stay awake. The service was great, delivering our morsels of food and drink, was a great night, will do it again!!
