My partner and I had an incredible experience at Lola Rouge Restaurant & Bar, from start to finish. It was a great place for modern yet casual dining, and perfect for families or group outings. We started with cocktails in the bar area, which was beautifully designed and had a lovely atmosphere. Our cocktails were show-stopping; with one being presented in a chest and the other with an impressive bubble of smoke on top! We dined in the private dining room (The Red Room) which was beautifully designed and comfortable. We enjoyed a decadent selection of small plates, including the oysters, Lamb & Coriander Dumplings and prawn toast. The mains were equally impressive, with the Lamb Loin Toasted Coconut Curry being the highlight. Throughout the evening, the staff were extremely attentive, polite and helpful - especially Benji and Sarah! We finished with the Signature Dessert Dining Plate which ended the evening wonderfully. If you’re in Wellington, I highly recommend visiting Lola Rouge’s; and make sure to try the Lamb curry!

Yum yum YUM! Everything about Lola Rouge was amazing. The decor. The staff. The food. We had the prawn toast, dim sum, pork skewer, Asian greens, fried rice and crispy chicken. It was a flavour explosion! We loved it and would definitely come back and recommend to everyone! Well done!

It has a really nice high tea. The restaurant looks fancy. I had a fantastic time there. They also have a good selection of tea. Benjamin Hau gave us a detailed explanation of the high tea.

Food was great! Meals are very big! We asked at the start if we needed more than 1 (had understood it was ideally a sharing menu) but meals were huge. Definitely only order 1 main per person. Not strong understanding of celiac people (our waitress wasn't atleast) which made it feel quite risky when ordering however felt fine after. Would definitely go back!

Came here for a outing on my birthday, was my first time here and I was blown away! Immediately greeted by an amazing staff as soon as I entered and I loved the atmosphere! Nice selection of drinks and the set up of the High Tea was beautiful! Everything tasted better than what I was expecting! I was even given a Happy Birthday platter, which made my day 1000x better. Compliments to the chef, I will definitely be returning!

Lola Rouge had come highly recommended, from a friend of a friend. So I don’t know if they have different culinary expectations to me or the night in question was just a bit off. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy which makes it hard to understand why the staff appeared to be very busy doing anything so long as it wasn’t actually serving. I often think that perhaps it is me, that I’m invisible (being a woman of a certain age) but I noticed 2 other tables having just as challenging a time trying to make eye contact. The concept, like so many restaurants now, was plates to share. I don’t mind that so long as the Favourite Husband is under no illusion that just because he’s bigger than me he gets more. We ordered a feast. A couple of small plates to start, a couple of big plates and a side. The salmon was rich and as soft as butter. There was a beautiful, subtle heat from a small yuzu gel. The venison tataki was a delight and was my favourite dish of the night. But the serving size wasn’t generous. We had just started on these when the special fried rice came out. Which seemed weird. I didn’t uncover any char sui pork belly and I think there were 4 prawns in the whole bowl. But it was the Favourite Husband’s favourite dish. Within a minute the large plates followed. There was barely room on the table so we quickly scoffed the venison to make space. Now I can eat fast, and I do, in fact I’ve often perused the benefits that would be afforded me if I had a snout or a proboscis. Never have I eaten anywhere where I felt under so much pressure to eat fast to make space on the table. Sorry, but it ruined the night for me. We’re spending over $200 and want to enjoy and relax, this was not possible. The lamb massaman was really rich and velvety, the fish of the day wasn’t nice. The snapper was fresh and well cooked, but over powered by the overwhelming pineapple sweetness. The photo of the fish was all blurred because I was in such a rush. Once all the chaos of all the dishes were removed we relaxed and lingered over a good cheeseboard. We didn’t need it, we weren’t hungry, it was purely so we could converse without speedily shovelling food in. I strongly recommend slowing the service down. Or get really big tables.

Fantastic High Tea. Great service, lots of teas and cocktails to choose from. The setting is gorgeous and the food was yum. Expensive but worth it for a treat or special occasion
