Love this place. The owners are so nice and the food is so yummy. They always answer the phone and then the food is ready in 10 minutes. Even my cat loves the orange beef. She eats it all in 30 seconds flat. Crazy impressive!
Went in and the owner was sharpening knives like some industrial alley in Shanghai. Not in NZ please. Anyway the food is pretty dire, fish burger tasted like it has been made with Basa fish and the sweet and sour pork was well over cooked. Don;t expect any manners or friendlyness from the owners, had better service in China.
We had sweet and sour and a lemon chicken. Please avoid them both they had next to no chicken inside the ultra soggy batter. The batter itself tasted fishy and the lemon flavour and sweet and sour was flavourless. Looks good though so if you want your food to look good, proceed.
Ordered bami goreng, dish was a generous quantity, but not as spicy as it could have been or as I would have liked. Perhaps more tailored to the Kiwi palate.
Great Chinese food. Reminds me of time i spent in Guangdong some years back. flames from the wok to add flavour. Hence the 5 star atmosphere rating.
I found around 10 insects in my Noodle Soup, and the previous Fried Rice I ordered was partially overcooked so had a lingering burnt taste. I've only been twice and will not be coming back! I was enjoying my meal when I picked out a gnat-like bug from the soup. I didn't think much of it, and tried my best to enjoy the rest of the meal, as bugs aren't always avoidable. However, I noticed after almost finishing my meal that each of the black specks is also a bug! I took closeups photos where you can clearly see their legs and body. The dish was a noodle soup and did not have pepper or black spices. I suspect the bugs are from the unwashed Bok Choy. While one bug might be understandable or even tolerable, the fact that the dish was filled with more bugs than pieces of meat and veges is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable! I don't tend to write reviews, but really needed to share this as it's beyond yuck and hope it serves as a warning to others. Perhaps the fish n chips would be cleaner, but their poor track record so far does not inspire much confidence. So gross!!!
The 4 stars are for the food. We ordered: 1. Shrimp fried rice - yummy 2. Combination Chow Mien - yummy 3. Beef brisket on rice - soft and succulent 4. Salt & pepper Squid - one of the best in the City The place is centrally located in the suburb of Kilbirnie. The shop is neat and simple with 3 tables for four. Parking is on-street. Phone order for pick up available. I will definitely come back.
