Quaint & super clean old school camping ground & facilities. Really impressed with kitchen layout, spacious showers & toilets & laundry. Fabulous view of the surf & you can spend hours just watching how it comes in. Clearview & Elephant Hill vineyards & restaurants close by for delicious dining. Need $2 coins to get back in to campground when you return from getting out & about so make sure you have them.

Nice views out to Cape Kidnappers. Campers friendly. Bike track beside it. Nice fish and chips down the road. Great nearby cafes and winery. Popular at weekends. Only draw back, toilets only cleaned during the week.

Beautiful freedom camp spot right on the water. Lots of spaces but very popular. 2 flush toilets, no hand soap & run out of paper quickly, bring your own. No water tap. Rubbish bin & glass recycling. Great spot, loved it..

One of the best freedom camping spots! Plenty of space right by the water, I arrived after dark (21:30) and still managed to park right up the water. Two clean flush toilets (typical NZ βseatlessβ toilets) and water fountain for drinking water. Sign says max two nights, seems like there are a couple of permanent residents here though. Had to stay three nights as my car battery had gone flat when I tried to leave on the second evening lol, and while I did see the wardens coming to check for SC, they didnβt say anything to me despite it being my third night.

Amazing freedom camp. Drinking water, bins and flush toilets. There did seem to be a few campers who had likely been there a while, perhaps living there. However a police car and an allied security car did a round and there were no issues and no one caused any problems. There was some music but by time everyone was in bed it seems to have died down. Right by a Four Square and coffee shop. Busy site but lots of spaces.

We are from Lower Hutt and come up to Havelock North several times a year as we love the whole area. We often spend a day or two sitting on our deck chairs at this lovely reserve, observing the birds, the waves, and chatting to the odd person fishing or walking along the beach. Lovely clean toilets. It's a great place to spend some "chill out" time. Thank you to the Council who maintain it and the toilets really well.

GREAT freedom camping spot. Two nights maximum stay per visit. Right on the ocean edge with great views to the North and towards Cape Kidnappers. Toilets, drinking water and rubbish onsite. Right on the cycle trail and multiple wineries within walking distance. You'll love it!!
