   First of all I want to acknowledge that Monique is an artisan craftswoman, and her work is exquisite. However, my experience with her, some years ago, is that she did not listen to what I asked, and when I asked to see the piece in progress, (because i was worried she hadn't listened), she denied my request. Unfortunately. What happened next would have been avoided if those things had happened. I'd specified that because of my large knuckles and small fingers, (they're waisted), I wanted a wide band to stop the ring swinging to the back. I even took her some examples of my existing rings to demonstrate what I meant. She ignored them. Unfortunately, the finished product was very top heavy due to Monique's unilateral decision to do some very intricate work that must have taken hours, which I then had to pay for. I would have been so much happier without the fancy work, which can't be seen from the top of the ring, and it would be less heavy on my finger. The ring won't sit on a flat surface without falling over. Monique's 'solution' was to fit two balls of gold in the back of the band, to make it tighter. They dig into my knuckle when I put the ring on and take it off, and have scraped the skin off on occasion. While there is no question that what she created is beautiful and unique, all these years later I still feel deeply sad that it's not the ring I asked for. Every time I wear it, I am reminded. I have recently spoken to her about it again, and acknowledged that there's nothing she can do to rectify it (that wouldn't cost me a whole lot more money), because I wanted to make her aware of the importance of listening to her client and working collaboratively, not 'in secret'. I decided to write this review to alert others to the need to make certain that they are listened to carefully and kept in the loop while their jewellery is made. My experience would have been so different if that had happened for me. And it was a LOT of money to pay to be so disappointed in the result. It was also my experience that while I took in an existing ring and other pieces of jewellery to use in the re-creation, I never received a receipt for the jewellery I supplied or any indication of it's value and whether it had been deducted from the cost. This has been my experience with other jewellers too.

   I had a diamond ring altered here, which involved replacing the silver band with an 18ct gold band. The work done was beautiful and exactly to my liking. Monique Therese was friendly and accommodating to any further changes to sizing and band width - they did a fantastic job. Monique Therese communicated with me throughout the process and ensured it was ready for me to depart NZ back to Melbourne. Thank you!

   Took my gold bracelet for a repair at Monique Therese. The repairers description to the repairs she supposedly made was severely inaccurate compared to the final work created. My gold bracelet still had dents and rough edges that could cut my skin. I paid a hefty amount of money for just some patching in which took a long time to do (3 weeks). Very disappointed, service is slow and quality of repair is below standards for very little amount of work done.

If you are considering purchasing a special piece of jewellery l would truely recommend speaking with Monique first. I’m a lover of antique jewellery and Monique was so helpful and knowledgeable. I’ve visited a few jewellers in my time but none have been as experienced or helpful as Monique
