The service levels, the food and the experiences – the overall care did not match or even remotely compare with the promises made. The management were invisible, the staff training was nonexistent, the attention given to individual needs was nonexistent, there was a lack of a systematic way of doing things.
I’m incredibly grateful for the care and compassion shown to my mother during her time here. The staff treated her with dignity and respect, and always kept us informed and involved in her wellbeing. It gave me great peace of mind knowing she was in such capable and kind hands. Thank you to the entire team for going above and beyond — your work truly makes a difference.
April 2021I raised my concerns re the treatment of my father with the Health and Disability commissioner who founds several areas in this facility woefully inadequate. They have decided that Mossbrae need to make several policies around the care of their patients to cope with their emotional and physical well being. A good outcome for future residents The staff here are overworked and the facilities are basic. I could not move my father out of there fast enough. They never answer the phone. A terrible experience for my Dad.

Sorry to see that not everyone has had a good experience at Mossbrae but we couldn’t have asked for better care for Mum. Mum spent the last month of her life at Mossbrae and she was very happy and in fact remarked to several visitors that it was “5 stars” !! She enjoyed her lovely sunny room, the food ,and interactions with Staff. Yes, the facility is dated and would not be to everyone’s taste but we could not fault the care.
Shame to see some of the negative reviews here - we moved my terminally-ill Mother here in July 2019 from Otago Community Hospice and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Yes, the facilities are pretty dated, but my experience with the people there was amazing, and certainly better than other rest homes I've dealt with.
This hospital is in need of a serious review of what has to offer its clients in comparison to other health providers. Under staff, train and over worked. I would not even rate it a one star. Even if you have no choice of where to put your love one. All I can say don,t do it look else where. Could not move my love one out of there fast enough.
