We stayed at the newly refurbished City Close Motel for three nights whilst attending the Napier U19 Football Tournament. We were absolutely delighted with our stay, City Close is a fabulous motel and we would definitely stay again. The location is excellent, a five minute walk into the main town centre area of Napier and there is a Pak n Save directly across the road. The rooms have been beautifully refurbished & decorated with excellent quality bed linen, towels and supplies. So much thought has gone into the details from the NZ toiletries to the Dilmah tea bags & Jeds Coffee Bags. It is clearly a much loved business and we were surprised to return back to our unit at the end of the day to discover our room had been serviced. It truly is like staying in a lovely hotel. Considering the location is so close to the CBD traffic noise was not an issue even with the window open. I think a fan will definitely be a welcome addition in summer as I imagine the rooms can get pretty warm as they are well insulated which is a real bonus in winter. All in all a fabulous option for a great stay in Napier.

I don't usually review places we stay but felt this motel deserves a review. The rooms although compact have been beautifully refurnished and very cosy. Beds were super comfortable and the linen top quality. We decided to extend our stay by a night. The owner and cleaning staff very cheerful. A nice experience.
Had the pleasure of staying in this delightful little motel on the weekend. All the units have been newly refurbished and what lovely job they seem to have done. We were one of the first guests to stay there after their renovations. The units were all charming, clean and have what you need in them. The owners were amazing to deal with and nothing was a problem. It is situated really close to just about everything you need and can walk to most places. Cute little quiet units. Would most definitely stay again.
Employee/manager can be rude. Doesn't help when she's yelling at you in a different language I don't understand. And charging $5 for use of the washing machine and $5 to hang washing on a line?? Come on really, there's winz tenants there u make thousands each week frm them the least u cud do is let them hang a top to dry on the washing line for free??? Just a thort.
Nice place. Very modest. Forgettable but useful/ funtional. Mere meters from a large supermarket. All types of dining and fun close by. Very short taxi fare home. Great stay on a budget. Practical. Leaving more spending money to enjoy Napiers delights. Stone beach only 2 blocks away.
Worse stay! The staff were so rude. The housekeepers didn’t even top up the toilet paper or take out the rubbish. There were ants all around the bathroom floor and kitchen. There were no sky channels and it was way too hot in the little unit. Parking spaces aren’t safe. Not at all happy with my stay. Couldn’t stay longer after the way I was treated.
Stayed their for 3 weeks had a good time Really good manager's and cleaners.
Good clean rooms close to all amenities and friendly on site staff. Tea and coffee facilities in room too.
