Would not honor a gift voucher after covid lockdown. This happened just after the first lockdown. The shop assistant was very helpful and she called the owner who would not honor because it was pass its use by date. Would never shop there ever.
I recently purchased a pair of shoes from Maher Shoes and unfortunately had an extremely disappointing experience. After wearing the shoes only once, they fell apart, revealing a significant quality issue. When I approached the staff to inquire about repairs or compensation, I was met with rude and unhelpful treatment. The lack of durability in the product itself was already disheartening, but the customer service made the situation even worse. The staff not only refused any form of compensation but also displayed an unwarranted level of rudeness, leaving me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer. In light of this experience, I cannot recommend Maher Shoes to others. Quality control and customer service are fundamental aspects of any reputable brand, and unfortunately, Maher Shoes fell short on both fronts in my case. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the company to improve its product quality and customer relations.
Having bought a great quality genuine leather bag from here once before, I was eyeing up another and asked what it was made of. Wiith the original price being labeled in store as $399 I was assuming it was leather. The sales assistant stated it was indeed leather. After purchasing and leaving I saw the label inside said it was made of 'textile PU'. Not only that, but the assistant and signage told me the bag was on sale for $149, down from $399. Lo and behold, after getting home to Christchurch I noticed a tag on the outside said it was a factory second priced at $199. The dishonesty is appalling, I will not be shopping with Maher again and will be warning others about them also.

Love this place! I pop in regularly cos it's like browsing an art gallery. Amazing designer shoes from a local Dunedin shoe designer, nothing else like it in NZ. Wide variety of styles and prices. And the staff are awesome - very friendly, will go out for their way to help, but will also just leave you to browse in peace if you'd prefer. There are two ranges here, the normal Maher range which is less expensive & more accessible. And then the more expensive Maher X range, which are limited edition premium designer shoes made from high quality leather. If they don't have your size in the store they can often get it from another Maher store in NZ.
