   I think another review below hit the nail on the head. We stayed in the Lakeview Deluxe Room, which was basically an attic off of the lobby. You can hear everything going on downstairs. There is a bizarre exit sign and another set of stairs right in the room — unclear where that led. The shower is tiny and basically a small wand. We had dinner at the restaurant once. The food was great but the service was off. There were instances of people asking about things multiple times, so it just felt a bit uncoordinated. And maybe it was because it was New Years but the pacing was slow despite there only being two tables including us. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, and everyone seemed well intentioned and the room was clean. However, for the price point, the experience was not on par with what you would expect for the Rosewood or comparable brands, and I think we came away somewhat frustrated that our money was probably better spent elsewhere.

   Incredible location that creates a feeling of isolation and tranquility while being close enough to town to make sure you can tap in and out with ease. The rooms are well proportioned and the attention to detail is high with quality fittings and furnishings. Comfort is high on the priority here and the staff accomodate most requests expertly. The daily cooked ANZAC cookies start each day with a smile. The hotel offers numerous extra experiences provided by high quality third parties. Definitely made the trip a well rounded experience of Queenstown. While the staff are young, they are very engaged, attentive and kind. They freely offer up great suggestions on where to eat and explore as well as provide greater information and context to New Zealand as a culture and country.

   This review is only for the Rosewood Matakauri Spa. My experience at the spa was disappointing and didn’t live up to the Rosewood standard I am used to. There was no warm welcome on arrival, and the staff felt inattentive throughout. I booked a day pass to enjoy the facilities, but they felt outdated, and no one could confirm whether the hot tub or cold plunge were even functional. There was no relaxation room or post-treatment offerings like tea or snacks, which was surprising. There was also no dedicated spa attendant to support throughout my visit. The highlight was my 90-minute massage with Tomoni, she was absolutely wonderful and provided an excellent treatment. Unfortunately, the overall spa experience lacked the hospitality and attention to detail I expected at this price point and brand reputation, especially with so few guests on property. Beautiful views, but the atmosphere felt uninviting and needs improvement.

   My husband and I stayed at Rosewood during our trip to Queenstown. I can’t express how amazing our stay was. All the staff were really lovely and accommodating, they even served us early breakfast so that we could get to the ski fields on time. We dined at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and were so impressed with the quality of the food - everything was so delicious and flavorful. And the view from the room was breathtaking. It was lovely to come back to a roaring fireplace at the end of every day. We will definitely be staying here again when we return to Queenstown.

   Came for lunch to check out this place and we were blown away by the picturesque views, delicious food and amazing service. Magnus was so helpful and friendly. After lunch, we managed to check out the deluxe rooms and they look so cosy and perfect for a romantic getaway! Definitely will consider staying here in the future!

   My husband and I celebrated our wedding meal here. The staff were very accommodating and able to change our reservation the day before due to a change in wedding dates. They set us up in the private library dining space with candles and a romantic playlist. The five course tasting menu was devine and the views of the sunset over the mountains is one we will never forget! Stunning venue and location!
