On the plate at Taste of Tandoor, the idea is Thai-inspired and well executed. Noodles arrive glossy and well seasoned. A sensible spend for the quality. Tandoor notes appear clean and steady. Portions are generous yet well judged.
Usually this place is buzzing with students and can get quite busy, but during the holidays it was quiet, which made for a relaxed visit. The vibe is casual and welcoming, good for groups or a quick meal. Food came out quickly, staff were polite and direct, and portions were generous. Flavours were excellent with a nice hit of heat that I really enjoyed.
After 11 days of travelling through New Zealand with my group, we were craving authentic Indian flavours and Taste of Tandoor in Dunedin was the perfect choice. The food was fresh, flavourful, and truly delicious. The service was excellent as well — warm, attentive, and exceptionally efficient. The team made sure our entire group felt welcomed and well taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Dunedin and looking for great Indian food and a wonderful dining experience!

This was one of the best Indian meals we’ve had in Dunedin. The curries were flavorful and left us satisfied. A highlight were the drink choices.
best butter chicken - actually has taste and spices. haven't had a bad curry & their prices are by far the best in Dunedin
6 out of 5 if I could. Try the veg samosa starter!! Friendly staff, quick service and great food, all at amazing value. The surroundings are basic but comfortable and i’m happy that the effort goes in to meals more than glitz and glam. Highly recommended.
Delicious lamb Saagwala dish with a good quality wine and yummy mint yoghurt The beef was so tender and spinach flavour was amazingly blended into the curry, very tasty! I ordered mild but the curry was a bit hot for me. I just mentioned it to Akshay, and he kindly changed it for me!! So polite, nice and friendly and he happily gave me a new dish with more rice! The portions are also big. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also really lovely. Akshay was very nice and professional. Highly recommended!
We went here for dinner at around 7:30. Servers took 20 minutes before checking if we were ready to order, at which time we were quite ready for a drink. Mains took another 45 minutes to come out. So overall service is quite poor. Food is very good though, however, i order medium heat and my curry had no heat whatsoever so that added to the disappointment. Good place if you arent in any sort of hurry, just be careful about the spice heat
