The one star is for the food because of the plastic in the pizza. We had the pizza delivered to us. Pizza was delicious but while enjoying the pizza, I bit into a bit of plastic that was in the pizza. Which alas put me off eating the rest. I have changed the star rating as five stars as I was so impressed with the follow up to this review. First class service.

honestly would rate this a zero but i can’t. one of the staff members was just being really openly and loudly rude to the other staff which made it feel like a really toxic environment to sit in for the over half an hour wait!! we only ordered one pizza, there weren’t many other people there and only a few phone orders. they didn’t warn us of a wait and we’re slow to understand when we requested a split payment. the woman that served us was friendly however and the food is well priced.

Great Pizza. I Get it when working the late shift sometimes. It is always consistently good and a reasonable price too. Yummy and quick for busy students

I visit Dunedin regularly and Poppas used to be an essential stop. The quality of the pizzas and the service (disinterested staff hiding out back) have steadily declined. Last visit, my funghi pizza had a sparse sprinkle of small pieces of what looked like mushroom and the pizza had no flavour :( I think they used to try to maintain the original Poppas flavours, but no longer. If they had a new shop name I wouldn't be so disappointed, but they have maintained the Poppas branding down to very small details... except they aren't actually selling Poppas pizzas anymore!

Love the pizza, the cheesy garlic bread is amazing, and the whole atmosphere is relaxed and cool!

Pippa's Pizza has been around since 1975. It was therefore around when I went to Otago University in 1977, but I have absolutely no memory of it. This is probably because I am of Scottish heritage and therefore avoided paying for anything as a student. Well, here we are in 2023, and we tried Poppa's on a wet Easter night. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The menu is interesting - I would call the pizza style "regional", by which I mean that it seems to be rather specific to Albany Street, but probably not to Italian pizza style. Having said that, it filled up the two students we had on hand, so that is saying something. You can even get a beer or wine there too - students these days are clearly more sophisticated than I ever was! So, overall, good solid food. Will fill you up, pleasant atmosphere, reasonable (if not cheap) prices, and great for a get-together between bouts of biochemistry or business studies at the information centre across the street. Just don't take your native Italian therefore a traditional pizza...

Pretty good pizza and cost effective. Cheap drinks too. Nice windows which open to the north [ish]. Went there after an event at Forsyth Barr and it was one of the only open places.
