   Fantastic restaurant! The sashimi was incredibly fresh and served in generous portions. Our group of four ordered widely across the menu, from curries and tempura to tataki and sashimi and every dish was delicious. The desserts were an unexpected highlight, beautifully presented and the perfect way to finish a wonderful meal.

   Origami seems to be one of the few Japanese/Korean food options in the town area. I had the Miso Ramen which was decent. While soup may not have the heavy and rich flavours compared to those you find in Japan or Japanese ramen chains, it was delectable and perfect for a rainy weather. The star of the miso ramen is the tender and thick slices of pork. I also had a Yuzu Matcha cake which was excellent. Pity about the hefty price tag and a box that is too small for the cake.

   I wanted to love Origami, but the miso ramen is just average. Anyone who’s eaten a lot of ramen I think would agree. Ultimately the broth flavour is missing a kick to raise it above a basic miso soup, and also the noodles don’t absorb the flavour. Condiments like chilli oil on the table would help, but are nowhere to be found. The pork (in my ramen), and chicken (my partner’s) were good quality meat, but were poached and tasted bland. A good searing with salt to finish the meat would improve the flavour (especially for the pork belly fat). Fries with cheese powder were delicious though. The place itself is lovely, staff are friendly, the design and logos are excellent. Desserts look beautiful, haven’t yet tried them but I’m sure they’re amazing. Origami could be great with some tweaks, but based on these ramens it is lacking a killer flavour profile. For that, I’d recommend Black Pearl in Napier instead.

   Cannot fault the food. All of the food was amazing. I definitely recommend the dumplings & the tiramisu for dessert! Cocktails are delicious (although a bit light on the alcohol), but taste and look good!

   Went here last night with my bestie and we were so happy with the place!! Amazing service and staff, so friendly and happy and helpful. Food and cocktails were outstanding, the meals came out super fast, as did the drinks. Reasonably priced. Really lovely staff and venue. Definitely will return!

   Tried Origami for lunch and it didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere is comfortable and the staff was kind. We had the Teriyaki chicken and the Karaage chicken with white rice/black rice blend. The food was good but we felt the chicken was a little over cooked, but we will try it again.

   It was my first time trying this restaurant. I went with two other friends after school had finished early for the last day of term 1 and it was genuinely the best food I've ever had. I usually cant eat alot and majority of it will go to waste or I'll order food from the menu and it won't be as good as It looked but it all met my expectations if not higher. ESPECIALLY the deserts which were absolutely outstanding. The drknks weren't watered down either like most restaurants will do so you could really taste the flavour. Not only the food was good, the staff were so welcoming and lovely. so friendly and approachable and made you feel very welcome. Definitely would reccomend and I'm definitely coming back!!
