Unfortunately 5 of us arrived for our booking and the owner of the home said he had no idea we were coming and that he only ever rents one room not the 3 we had booked and paid for. He said booking.com had made a mistake and they've done this before. He was apologetic and helpful, allowed me to call booking.com from his dining room to start the refund process. It was a blessing in disguise as the home was unclean, lawns and weeds unkempt and one of the curtains we could see from outside was black with mould. I would encourage others to see other reviews for similar experiences.

Just like everyone else on here. Do not book! The only reason I tried is because I was absolutely desperate as there was a festival in town and everything was booked up or incredibly overpriced. I got there and the man was instantly combative and just blamed booking.com and that I needed to call them. That I wasnβt on his list and there was nothing he could do. I donβt know if he needs to get his stuff together with booking or what but even he said it happens all the time. Was completely dismissive, no apology or empathy or anything. Not to mention that the property is not labeled or clear where it is. I had to go to the back and walk around it wasnβt clear at all. Would give zero stars as Iβm not even able to stay. Now I have to find another place completely last minute

Dont ever Book here, you will get scammed!! Iβve made a reservation over booking.com, and when I arrived the shady owner told me his two rooms were already taken, and that booking would have made a mistake. That I already paid over 200 Dollars beforehand didnt seem to bother him. Like another Person already wrote, I am Not sure whether he has no clue how to run his B&B, or he is just dishonest and a Bad Personβ¦

Called for room availability on the day of arrival and luckily got a room with one double bed and one single bed for our stay. Shared house with landlord and other long-term guests. Glen was nice. The accommodation cost paid directly to him was much lower than booking on the other websites. No extra cost for my kids aged 2y and 4y. He even accepted payment in AUD which helped us a lot. Oven, Kitchenetten, dishwashers are available. No extra charge for washing machine& dryer usage. He offered free food such as onions, apples, eggs, bananas and garlics. Breakfast cooked by ourselves and options are either flakes with milk or toasts with jams. Location is good, driving distance is 30mins from the airport and free parking is possible on site. Disgusting place. Cook your own breakfast which was toast, eggs, and/or baked beans. No milk for tea or coffee, the owner is up at 2am doing laundry etc. Not a B & B in my books. Bedrooms are cramped, and the bedding is smelly and old. Not an experience I want anyone to share.

Great stay, we spent 3 nights there. Peaceful, clean, warm. Generous, and comfortable. Glen is kind, and really helpful. Oh and bed was amazing! Recommended.

I am travelling alone and had high expectations to stay at this B&B and was eager to stay there, as I thought it would be a highlight of my stay in Christchurch. Unfortunately, I was put in a very stressful situation, because Glen, the owner, cancelled my two-day stay on the morning of my arrival with the following message: "Good Morning Mariana David This is a VERY IMPORTANT message concerning the accommodation reservation you made on March 1st 2023 via the Booking Com website , Regrettably on this occasion I am now unable too offer you accommodation on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th March . Reason being I have very elderly friends from Wellington that at short notice advised me that they are arriving this evening for the next eight days too visit their daughter and grand children . I suggest that you promptly contact the friendly team at Booking Com Customer service in order that they can assist you to source suitable alternative accommodation in Christchurch. Kind Regards Glen Proprietor Intrepid Bed and Breakfast Christchurch" I replied asking if we could work on some kind of resolution together because I had no guarantee that Booking would be able to help me on time, I needed a place to stay and all the available alternatives were much more expensive and that would be complicated to handle for a solo traveler. I got no further response from the property. They simply don't seem to care that their negligent management of bookings affects and stresses the guest and are in no way available or interested in helping you. If you want to have a good and stress-free NZ experience, I advise you to avoid this place, as apparently I'm not the only One who had this kind of experience (it seems like I was actually lucky that I was warned a few hours in advance).

Booking cancelled last minute, due to private guest. If your place is so exclusive, please don't put it on third party to help you manage your booking. Thanks to the cancellation my plans and everything got ruined. Thank you for being such wonderful as host.

Glen canceled my one day booking out of the four days just in an hour of my arrival with the reason that his previous guest extended his stay without any solution . Did not reply to my email sent three days prior to my departure as well.I could not find accommodation due to long weekend . On top , he yelled on me and slammed the door threatening to ruin my stay for the next four days if I complained. Very filthy property with awful stench and the owner Glen looked to be under the influence of alcohol. Requested him to cancel my entire booking as it was very unsafe after this drama but denied and not getting any refund. Not a bit safe for anyone to stay especially females traveling alone. Would not recommend anyone to stay at this property. Very dishonest .Zero star rating.

The stay was wonderful, almost felt like a second home because of the comfortable atmosphere (not to mention the adorable cat ^^). Breakfast was provided, good heaters, fresh towels, not too noisy, what else could you ask for? Glen is one of the most nicest owners I've yet to meet for a while. 5/5
